The most delicious bolognese I've had anywhere...even the North End. Relaxing atmosphere.
We live right down the street from this restaurant so were very excited when they opened. We tried them right when they opened and the food tasted like they didn't use ANY spices. We talked to friends who had the same experience. But since they just opened, we gave them another chance. This time the food was ok, nothing special, mediocre at best. So we took a break from going there for a while. Then we went for drinks and appetizers. We left with a huge bill for such little. The drinks were fine and the appetizers were ok, but the price was just crazy. We occasionally saw their Facebook posts and the food always looked so bad in the pictures, we didn't feel the need to go back. But then we got a gift card. So we went with a few friends. The drinks were good but tiny. Especially for the price. The Kielbasa was ok, but I can do as well at home. Basically just pan roasted Kielbasa. The Mac and Cheese were actually the best dish and really good. But I really don't need to go out for Mac and Cheese. The lobster ravioli on the other hand were expensive and just bad. You couldn't taste any lobster, it was just a mashed fishy tasting mix. We shared them between 3 people and each of us just ate one ravioli and left the overpriced rest. When the waitress asked how we liked the food, we mentioned this and she basically told us nobody had ever complained and made it sound like it was our fault. Well, we really wanted to like this place, but after 4 tries and mediocre at best food with overinflated prices, we won't be back.
Sat at the bar tonight and Penny was tending bar, as usual. She's amazing commands the bar with ease and knows the menu inside and out. We sat next to a woman and her husband who complained bitterly about mushrooms in her meal not being fresh (although they definitely were), but didn't say anything until the meal was over. Looking for a free meal probably!!! How do you do that, Pat? And to leave a $6 tip for the bartender when it was not her fault at all that you customized the meal and then didn't like it. Yes, we saw you in action and we saw Penny and the owner try to appease you. Maybe you should make your own meals from now on rather than causing us to see your petty attempt to get a free meal. And don't worry, we felt bad and we made up for your lousy tip. You're welcome. I hope we don't sit next to you again, but we LOVE THIS ESTABLISHMENT AND HOPE MORE PEOPLE REALIZE THE AMOUNT OF WORK IT TAKES TO PUT OUT MEAL AFTER MEAL AND DRINK AFTER DRINK and then to have to try to appease your panties in a bunch attitude. Almost comical, but I hope everyone gives this place a try you won't be disappointed. Thanks for a great dinner, awesome drinks and a comedy show on the side!!!
Had a great meal at 118 tonight. Food was great, service by the bartender, Penny, was excellent. The only issue was the woman next to me at the bar who kept hitting me with her elbow. Turns out she not only kept knocking into me but, based on her review, didn’t like the food or service. My food was excellent and we were made to feel at home. I’d recommend this restaurant, but screen the people next to you at the bar carefully! Some people just can’t be happy.
