Bidrage med feedbackThis place does take you back in time; from the seating arrangements, cutlery, music and even to the ones serving up the food. everything screams viking. when we got there, we were announced and everyone in there took the time to pause and welcome us. We were then lead towards a long table where in you share with other customers. If you are looking for a quiet night out then this is not the place to be. The atmosphere in this place was loud but fun. All members of staff were wearing costumes and they give you recommendations too as there are unusual items on the menu. This place lived up to expectations in terms of giving every one a viking experience. Also, given the seating arrangements, this is a good place to meet fellow travellers and locals too.
Absolutely loved it!! It was my wife 's birthday, she booked the table but I then emailed asking if the could do something special for her birthday as a surprise. They emailed back with a resounding YES! So, your night starts when you walk down the candle lit steps and through the wooden doors. You put your coat in the cloak room and then wait to be announced! As it was my wifes birthday, not only were we announced but the whole restaurant had to join in and do 'Hip Hip Horrrahh ' in their best Viking shouts! Then get ready to meet the person sitting next to you as the tables are long wooden benches where you squeeze in close to the people already seated. My wife needed to climb and stand on the table to reach her seat against the wall, very funny!! The waitress came over, she was very friendly, took our drink order, I went for Chilli Mead, loved it! The food was great, I had a lovely platter of meats to start, Flap steak as a main and the sweetest cake ever for dessert. The cutlery is hand forged and not your typical knife and fork set......it took a bit of getting used to but great fun. I 'm a big Viking fan so I was in my absolute element here, joining in shouting and banging on the tables when a new guest came to join the feast was brilliant. Honestly, it was the greatest restaurant experience that I have ever had and I really doubt that any other restaurant night out will beat it. If you 're in Stockholm ever and want a unique night out, then book yourself a table at Aifur. You 'll walk in a tourist and walk our a Viking.... Hoorrahh.
Someone told us about this on a Viking tour and I was worried that it would be a cheesy Medieval Times restaurant. After reading the reviews we decided to check it out and it was super fun! We made a reservation and were fairly quickly shown to a table. (There 's a required coat check just inside the door--too many lit candle for people to be wearing coats, I guess. They announce you to the crowd with a bugle when you enter the room. The menu wasn 't my favorite, so I ordered the chicken and bulgur. I was amazed at how delicious it was! We tried some mead that was great, too. You sit at large family-style tables and we enjoyed the people we were sitting with. At the end of the dinner they brought around some helmets, furs, and swords to take pictures with. It was crowded right after Christmas and Aifur was a well-oiled machine of seating, serving, and bringing the check while still managing to be friendly and fun. Don 't go if you don 't like loud places.
The food was not bad but the vibe and the experience that you are back to 400 year was amazing. Cool idea
Felt like getting in touch with my culinary roots before heading back to Thailand and what better place than Aifur, this Viking outpost in Gamla Stan, Stockholm. This restaurant is an event. The bard playing traditional tunes. The maitre d announcing the arrival of each guest. All seating unless you are 10 people or more is communal- yes you will have to share your table with perfect strangers. Be ready to stomp your feet and clap your hands, dance if you are up to it. The food is great, the beer is cold. We had a great evening
