J.j. Thermo's And Grill - Upper Alton

I walked into the restaurant and was welcomed by a friendly gentleman who seated us. We ordered water, and Katie became upset when we joked about everyone getting the same drink. She mentioned she wasn't in the mood to joke around because the computers were down. After we ordered our food, she said she wasn't trying to be rude, but then criticized how my parents raised me. When it came time to settle the bill, I mentioned that I would leave a $2 tip for a $3 meal, and I expressed my apologies for having upset her. Katie responded, telling me not to worry about it, and added that I should apologize to my mom for my upbringing. Aside from this encounter, the rest of the staff was really nice. It’s unfortunate that she seemed to be having a rough day and chose to take it out on some kids who just wanted to enjoy their meal. There were also a few other instances where she used inappropriate language towards us.

The food here is consistently excellent, and the service is outstanding. I only have the opportunity to visit when work takes me this way, but I make it a point to eat here whenever I'm in the area.

I absolutely love this restaurant! It's a wonderful spot with friendly staff and an excellent menu featuring consistently delicious food. Their large pretzels are my favorite – they're so tasty!

The food here was not very good at all. The beer cheese was hard and clumpy and was cold. The service was terrible, we barely saw our waitress. There were issues with the website while trying to order and the manager was so rude and not understanding at all when we tried to explain what happened. She argued with us and stormed off, throwing her arms down like a 5 year old. Overall bad experience, will not be going back.

This was a surprise. Very clean. Had lunch specials 2 items for $8. Server was excellent and the food was great. Will definitely be back.
