Bidrage med feedbackIt’s the shop to go to in Ulu Tiram town. This coffee shop is located on the first floor, access by an unassuming tiny staircase. The butter bread is charcoal-toasted and invariably patrons come for just for this. Their coffee is acceptable. Good ambience clean.
Ulu Tiram has one hidden gem in the form of an old kopitiam. It is located on the 1st floor of old shoplot but without proper signage. It is an old school Hainanese kopitiam that is known to Ulu Tiram folks but still under the radar from the people outside. I am always in this area whenever in Johor so I decided to stop by for breakfast one morning. You will not be able to see any name or sign but look out for Kedai Emas Hap Heng and it is just next to it. There 's also a big L sign Apparently everyone in Ulu Tiram knows about this Kopitiam. As you enter, you 'd notice that most who work here are elderly so please be patient with their speed. The place was bright and quite clean. Since it 's a Hainanese kopitiam, their kopi or teh is a must.. after all, this is what they are famous for. I couldn 't find fault in their kopi O Kosong and Kopi Si Kosong Their kaya and butter toast was quite good using traditional white bread loaves and roasted then over charcoal resulting in the aromatic smell even before it went into the mouth. their very own nasi lemak toast sans the rice. Using perfectly timed fried egg (yolk is still runny), homemade sambal, and cucumber slices sandwiched in between toast slices, it felt like eating nasi lemak but instead of using rice they used toast. Couldn 't resist order a second helping. They do have regular nasi lemak too if you prefer. Half boiled eggs always work for me. I noticed chwee kueh (teo chew steamed rice cake with preserved turnips) on other tables which look delicious but my tummy was already full so I 'll leave it to next time. Judging from the endless stream of customers coming in and out of the Kopitiam, they are doing good for themselves.
A Coffeeshop that has no menu, simply order traditional breakfast like toast with coffee/tea. They always have Mee siam and nasi lemak, or some kuih that’s really nice. They don’t have a signage and is located 2nd floor. Good luck finding this gem!
A hidden kopitiam on first floor. Their butter kaya toast is quite perfect, not too sweet. Tried their nasi lemak during my visit too, the nasi lemak just normal without the fragrance of coconut milk, but their sambal is really nice. Kopi is tasted smooth, request to have less sweet for my kopi, the staff do remember the request. Staff are friendly.
Excellent place for breakfast and snacks. Very reasonable prices. Good coffee and sambal egg toast. Mee Siam, home made chwee kueh, fried noodles, and nasi lemak available for breakfast.
