Bidrage med feedbackI can't believe I forgot to write a review for my favorite sushi place! While there are other locations with more menu options and even highly-rated chefs, this place holds a special spot in my heart.
Hmmm, I’d give this place 4 stars. It’s very convenient, and the service is quick, but I find it a bit confusing. They have Japanese staff, but the food...
I visited on a Friday night, and the place was bustling! Fortunately, since I was alone, I was able to grab a spot at the bar without any wait. While most of what I ordered was just okay, there was one standout...
This is a fantastic spot for both takeout and dining in. The specials are reasonably priced for the quality and quantity offered, and the sushi is consistently fresh. Every visit to Full Moon Tustin is a delight! Food: 5/5
Full Moon Sushi is your typical neighborhood sushi spot, offering reasonable prices for what you receive. At the top of the list is the Salmon Lemon Roll, which is a California roll topped with salmon and slices of lemon. The fish is quite fresh, and the amount of mayo on the imitation crab is just right, although the base California roll is nothing extraordinary. Next, I tried the Salmon and Chu Toro nigiri. The salmon was again fresh, with a nice thick cut and a good touch of fresh wasabi. The Chu Toro was decent, and for $7, it's a pretty good deal. However, I wasn't a fan of the garnish; I prefer just the fish on its own. The Full Moon Roll followed, a deep-fried creation featuring tuna, salmon, white fish, shrimp, avocado, crab meat, and smelt. This is their signature roll, and while it’s generally solid, it arrived cold, suggesting it had been sitting for a while. That was disappointing, but I've had better experiences before, so I won’t let it heavily impact my rating. Next up was the straightforward crunchy roll, which surprisingly turned out to be one of their best offerings. It features nicely sized shrimp, a generous amount of crab, and a crispy tempura coating—essentially, it checks all the boxes. Finally, I ordered the Spider Roll, which has become my favorite sushi option lately. This rendition was a large California roll filled with soft shell crab. Although it doesn't quite measure up to the one from Sushi Bear, it was still a solid sushi experience. I just wish it had included more soft shell crab. As a side dish, we added baked scallops served with crab meat and rice. This was a nice complement to the simpler rolls and something I always recommend ordering on the side. After devouring all that food, we ended up ordering an additional California roll and a crunchy roll since none of us felt fully satisfied (there were three of us total). Overall, I’d rate Full Moon Sushi a 6.3 out of 10. The prices are solid, the quality is good for what you pay, the rolls are a decent size, and the flavors are pleasing. It's a great option for a weeknight dinner!
