Bistro 44 - Tucson

Highly disappointed. I think it’s a popular spot because it’s plain, safe food that locals have been eating and using as a watering hole for years but ugh. It smells funny when you walk in, slow service, everything is outdated, zero seasoning — Ijust wasn’t impressed. The pictures made it seem like it would be this amazing, hip bistro but my toddler can probably whipup a better lunch than the cardboard we ate today.

My wife and I came in for lunch and we were able to get a seat straight away. The waitress was excellent and gave us time to talk while still getting our order. The BLT is a great choice and so is the burger. All the food was cooked perfectly. Also, thefries were cooked perfectly. I highly recommend this place.

It is clear that this place is a neighborhood staple for many! The food was great. Prices were equal to the quality of food. If you drink wine, I'd recommend not selecting their house options for merlot or chardonnay...it isn't the worst I've ever had, butnot real good either. Spend the extra for a more quality label. The service was decent, but we did feel a little rushed eventhough we were eating towards the end of the lunch rush. It's a cozy place and a nice atmosphere. We may try the happy hour herein the future.

Our first indication that we shouldn't have eaten here is that there were two patrons in the entire restaurant when we walked in. The place is older, and really smells. Like old pipes or sewage.. it was very unappetizing. The menu looked pretty good butwith the lack of ppl and the smell, I wouldn't dare venture to food that requires safe handling.. our waitress was nice enoughbut we will not be going here again. Nor would I recommend it.

Quality ingredients make for a high quality meal. everything was delicious and well prepared. all taste notes melted well together. the presentation was on place. good service and a beautiful atmosphere. hidden gem. come back!
