The Black Bamboo - Tshwane

Delightful as always. Perfect ambience, delectable cuisine. Choosing Blaq is always a stellar decision.

I had a special dinner at there. At that time, there were few wines, but usually they have a lot kinds of wines. The dishes were also nice.

Black bamboo has been on my must visit list for a while now and I finally had the opportunity to go. The restaurant itself is quite nice, nothing overly pretentious just very nicely decorated with lots of Anton Smit sculptures inside and out. The service was unfortunately not exactly what I expected, although all the staff was friendly and helpful we were left for long stretches of time with no service, sometimes with empty plates and even no drinks. Most importantly is the food and here at least they did not disappoint. My partner does not eat red meat and the chef was kind enough to make him a special chicken main course. The lamb dish I had was just delicious and well worth the wait. In summary then, a beautiful restaurant with good food but certainly a need to refocus their efforts on service.

I went the The Black Bamboo for the first time and tried the 7 course wine pairing menu. We were welcomed with a house cocktail. The food was absolutely delicious. The portions are small so you are able to actually eat and enjoy every course !! You receive about half of a regular glass of wine, which was perfect since there are seven glasses! Outdoor seating is cozy and comfortable! The staff was very friendly. Great for a special occasion or night out !!

The meal was fantastic, and Francis, our server, was delightful. We ordered the fillet, cooked to perfection, along with a Caesar salad with the most delicious dressing I've ever had.
