Mar Picante - Trujillo

Large modern restaurant full of locals enjoy seafood. Huge menu. I prefer the combo of ceviche with fried and grilled seafood. If you've ever been to Peru, you know that their ceviche shares can be large. That's why I like the seafood combos... Places like Mar Picante. Trujillo is so close to the sea that the fish like Corvina (Sea Bass) are fresh and well cooked. Great choice and great value.

Worst ceviche mixto je! And the name of Mar Picante... The place is ok, the service ok also Not a 4 star rated restaurant

Me and my friends went there and expected the best ceviche ever.... Well, it was just ok. The tiger milk had way too much lemon and the fish I thought wasn't the best quality and not cut the way it is supposed. Another dish was...with tuna...it came out of a tin, which we didn't expect for a restaurant with that recommendation. The lemon/mint didn't taste home made. I guess it was a ready mix syrup. We definately expected more.

Visiting Trujillo for the first time, my group wanted to try Cebiche in route from the Costa de Sol to the Mormon temple. Chose this place based on location. Pleased. Although they were pretty full, the service was quick and very attentive. They don't stock...liter bottles of water, but the waitress sent someone to a nearby bodega to buy one for us. I'd give the Cebiche an 8 out of 10. Recommended!

Mar picante is different. The Ceviche was not the same Ceviche you would find in any other cevichería, I am not sure whether that was a good or bad thing, it was just different. I recommend that you take a new take on the regular... Ceviche style, even more if you're going from Lima. The service was ok, the atmosphere is comfortable and the prices are reasonable.
