Bidrage med feedbackArrive no later than 12:30 if you want to get the lunch meal of the day. A couple of years ago when I went here the place would fill up by 1:15 in the afternoon and they would run out of the special of the day perhaps about 2:30 pm. However in 2022 I went once and at 1:45 p.m. they had already run out. And today I went at 1 p.m. and they had already run out. So get there between noon and 12:30. I would describe the food here as being good basic vegetarian food. Overall, I would rate them four cows for the quality of the food, and the fact that they are open on Sunday. This restaurant is in a good neighborhood and they have plenty of seating. Saturday and Sunday is not so crowded. There are 2 inside dining rooms and some outside seating on the patio as you enter. The value is good. As of February 2022 the meal of the day is 11 soles. Today it included a soup, a papa a la huancaina, the main plate which included beans, rice and what I think was a tortilla with a few green flecks in it. Also an apple drink and a tiny bit of watermelon for the desert. The main meal of the day is written on a chalkboard as you enter the restaurant. One of the other customers told me that there are two other meals of the day but you have to know about them since they aren 't written anywhere. They are called the macrobiotic and the dieta meals of the day. The diet meal includes a nice green salad which I would have liked since the meal that I got, while technically vegetarian, didn 't really have any recognizable vegetables in it such as broccoli carrots celery etc. My meal was average and not really memorable. Another time I went here I ordered the macrobiotic plate. It cost 11.5 soles in 2022 and I put a picture of it on here. It comes with several different items on one big plate and a fruit smoothie without sugar added. I had to remind the waiter to bring me this drink. There is one waiter for the entire restaurant of approximately 12 to 15 tables. The service is a bit rushed and impersonal. If you are staying in the historic center of town, it may not be worth coming down to this neighborhood since there are several vegetarian restaurants in the center. But if you are staying in this part of town then definitely stop by. Worth noting: they use peanuts in some of the sauces and the garbanzo beans were cooked with peanuts on the macrobiotic plate. If you are allergic to peanuts keep that in mind. Updated from previous review on 2022-02-07
Lugar tranquilo con opciones vegetarianas que se pueden veganizar. Updated from previous review on 2021-10-12
This restaurant has been around forever. Owned by Mercedes herself who's a very nice old lady. For lunch they serve a menu, which is about 6 or 7 soles and the place gets packed with locals. At night she's there and will cook for you if you want, but I never found anybody there at night when I went. Veggies are fresh and food very good! I'm a vegan and even though they've offered to substitute something non vegan for something else a couple of times, the waiters have also told me that there certainly wasn't cheese where there was, so you can't be picky here.
