The food I did have was delicious—I started with a liver brandy pâté served with gluten-free toast, and then enjoyed a smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwich with a salad. Still, it was really disappointing that I couldn't indulge in fries or other fried items, especially considering how allergy-friendly their website claims to be.
I was really looking forward to dining at Scott’s since they offer a dedicated gluten-free menu, and it’s quite extensive! However, I discovered that any fried items—such as fish and chips, tempura, fries, and onion rings—are cooked in the same oil as regular dishes, which means they’re completely contaminated and not safe for those with celiac disease or gluten sensitivities. The server was wonderful and informative, and she was very kind, but she mentioned that the hot oil somehow eliminates gluten. Unfortunately, that’s not accurate, and it seems she may have been misinformed by the management. The food I did enjoy was quite tasty; I started with a chicken liver brandy pâté served with gluten-free toast, followed by a smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwich with a salad. However, it was really disappointing to find that I couldn’t order fries or similar items, especially since they promote themselves as being allergy-friendly on their website.
This is a lovely restaurant with a diverse menu, and most of the options are either gluten-free or can be prepared that way.
Many options and very accommodating by coeliac
