3rd Rock - Trivandrum

We ate here 3 times and each time it was fantastic. The food might be as good or slightly better at Sanjeevini (because of their skill with the tandoor oven) but you can't beat dining on the sea wall watching the waves crashing in.Saaj the waiter is so friendly and attentive despite being run off his feet sometimes. Consequently the service can be a little slow, but that's also because they're cooking your meal fresh so it's well worth waiting for.We felt a bit guilty walking past the empty Oyster restaurant every time saying "no thank you we're going next door," but once you've had a lovely meal somewhere it's hard not to go back.The best thing I ate here was the king prawn malabari. The gravy is made with coconut milk but it's got a good kick to it and such a beautiful flavour. Another really tasty dish is prawn Rajasthani which is made using a cashew nut paste, absolutely delicious.Our bills were typically around 1,500 INR including a couple of secret beers.

Great place to chill while escaping the hot sun. Always a welcome breeze blowing. Food is fresh and exceptional quality and value.

Our favourite restaurant on kovalam beach. Sitting on the wall enjoying lunch and dinner as the waves crash on the beach next to you is great fun. In addition the food was very good. Large tasty portions and a very friendly helpful manager. Highly recommended.

Simple, homely place with a fantastic location and of course freshest of sea foods. It sits right on the samudra beach serving up some sumptuous sea foods. We had their prawns, fish and calamari. All yummy.

We recently spent a fantastic month staying in the accommodation at 3rd Rock, located right above the restaurant. The Studio Apartment, managed by Sulekha, was impeccable and had everything we needed for our extended stay. We hardly cooked for ourselves because the restaurant downstairs made dining out effortless. The food was delicious as always, and the service provided by Saj and the rest of the team was top-notch. This restaurant is truly a hidden gem and one of the best in Kovalam.
