Trattoria Citta' Di Londra - TRIESTE

Do not be fooled by the name: the food has nothing to do with English food, rather is nice local food. The place is quite small, perhaps 20-30 persons maximum? The appearance is typical: walls covered with light-coloured wood up to half height, after that a light colour (creamy yellow). Many posters of old (20's-30's more or less) expositions. The place is quite informal (it is not a criticism): water and wine were brought in carafes and the dishes are described to you orally. My impression is that there is not a fixed menu, but it depends on what is available on market and (I guess) on your preferences. I had no way to verify, but I think that they can be quite flexible. I liked the food very much: spaghettoni alla barcolana (big, thick, spaghetti dressed with tomato and fish, very tasty), grilled bluefish (very tasty as well), tart with jam of sambucus flowers (very good, not too sweet as sometimes tarts are).

We found this place when taking a shortcut through a back street. Not much from the outside and the name...an English pub ? But the menu looked ok and it was reasonably priced. Very traditional inside and frequented by locals Excellent pasta with barcalona (local fish and fritto misto.....very good house white We came back the next night and I had what I saw a local having the previous night....mixed grilled fish plate. Really good, light and tasty, And a mixed fish spaghetti. More good white wine, then complimentary grappas from a 3litre bottle put on our table ....and then limoncellos Also a cake of 3 types of chocolate..not sweet, just flavour In total, 2 nights and 2 excellent meals with the locals who know about this gem

Saturday this place only serves dinner, listed as 7-20. Had good reviews. Could not book table on line, and at 7 , and thereafter closed with no note and no one answering the phone after 7. Suggest calling or booking in!

A local place you have the choice of meat or today's fish respectively calmari all well prepared and fresh A very friendly and local atmosphere highly recommendable if you looking for local places and indeed affordable

Quite a surprise. It does not look very nice from outside nor actually inside. But the staff is very friendly and efficient and the food (mainly Fish) was excellent. We also had the housewine and some tea or grappa and all went down very well.
