The Cheese Lady - Traverse City

Perhaps it was because we first visited in September after the end of the main tourist season, but there were some product shortages due to COVID-related supplier chain problems. However, when we visited, most of what we saw in the coolers was cheese that could be found in any grocery store. I didn't find any havarti cheese! There were also non-food items like kitchen towels and trinkets, but again, they were items that could be found in any tourist shop. Though it's possible we visited on a slow day, I had hoped to buy some unique cheeses for us to try and ended up leaving empty-handed. The store was clean and well-organized inside (although the outside resembled an older white house). Overall, my visit was average and it could be a decent place to check out if you're not looking for something too special or unique to purchase.

There is a wide variety of cheese and other options to choose from at this restaurant. It was my first time dining here, and due to a special occasion, it was only half-full. I received a lot of assistance and recommendations on which cheeses and accompaniments to select. I look forward to returning soon.

The staff at this restaurant was fantastic - very knowledgeable about their menu items. The location was funny and they also had an interesting selection of quirky kitchen products for sale.

Don't overlook this little gem of a place if you like cheese. Super selection of cheese along with a knowledgable person to help you discover something new. We were impressed that we could describe our likes and several cheeses wre suggested for tasting. They are patient and willing to help you find a cheese, cut a small shaving, and wait for your reaction before buying. Too bad we couldn't buy more cheese and larger quantities, but being out of state on a trip required limitations. There also is a small merchandise area especially related to cheese and of course crackers, but the star of the shop is the cheese. Excellent experience and highly recommended!
