Weingut Trossen - Traben-Trarbach

Excellent place to go to when you are in Krov or surroundings. We bought our wines quite some years at this winery. The family owns the wine yards for many many years. My parents already bought their wine from 'der Peter '. The son started experimenting and bottling a dry white wine, which we like extremely, and can be bought for more then ten years already. They also sell the sweeter Spatlase, or the famous trocken beeren auslese or the eiswein.

A gem. Up the hill Traben side with a lovely view from the terrace fortunately the weather on both nights we ate (and drank! there allowed us to sit outside, though if the weather had been worse, we would have happily sat inside in the comfortable, modern dining room to have enjoyed the food and wine. We sampled several of the family's wines, which are of fine quality (and we bought some to take home . An earlier reviewer mentioned the excellent red wines which we don't get to see in the UK, but have to be tasted! The food was very good and fresh off a relatively short menu. Portions weren't as overwhelming as we'd find in most restaurants they were more geared to tasting and enjoying the wines with prices correspondingly a bit lower, so giving good value for money and, to be honest, making the experience even more enjoyable. The atmosphere and ambience couldn't have been friendlier. A delight and could well be our excuse for diverting us from wherever we head the next time we visit Germany. Note that there are a small number of bedrooms here and we'll be very tempted to use one on our next visit. One relatively minor disadvantage for us was that the only plastic that they could accept were Maestro cards, while we only have Visa. So we had to pay cash. Not a long walk down and then back uphill to visit a cash machine!

Came here a few times and enjoyed it always, good simple food and excellent wines, in summer the outdoor area is beautiful with stunning views

On a sunny evening we strolled up the hill and were welcomed in a friendly way. Good selection of wines, both red and white. The red Spatburgunder was great. We enjoyed our meals and wine. Best of all is the view on vineyards and town awesome!
