Bidrage med feedbackI had a wonderful birthday dinner for my husband at Prospect during our weekend getaway in the Catskills. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, and the food was fantastic. When I mentioned that I’m vegan, our waitress took the time to highlight the different vegan main courses and sides on the menu, even offering a delicious vegan dessert option. I highly recommend this place for a peaceful dinner in the Catskills.
This charming restaurant offers distinctive dishes and provides attentive service. The prices are somewhat on the higher side.
Good vibes. Congenial staff. Food is whatever. The portions weren’t bad in my opinion. However, the quality of the food is where I’m docking points. The gnocchetti ‘Al Tocco’ was bitter and unpleasant. The Prospect Burger tasted like the restaurant sourced their burger patties from the grocery frozen section. The sourdough bread wasn’t free, but it was worth it. The winter citrus salad was the best part of my meal. The cocktails were small considering the price, but otherwise not much else to complain about. I wish this restaurant was better. My stay at Scribner’s lodge was wonderful. It just sucks that this is the restaurant that’s attached to the lodge.
I recently dined at Prospect Restaurant during my 3-day stay at Scribner's Lodge in the Catskills, and unfortunately, the experience left much to be desired. The service was really lacking; the staff seemed super confused at every course, which made the evening frustrating. The cost was surprisingly high for what we received, and to make matters worse, they were out of not just one, but two dishes on their already limited menu. As a vegetarian, it was especially challenging to find suitable options, and while the food we did manage to order was good, it fell short of being great. On a positive note, my husband enjoyed the burger. We had a $100 credit towards the restaurant which softened the blow a bit, but if I had been paying full price for the meal, I would have been more disappointed with the overall experience.
We've visited this restaurant a dozen times since it opened. The ambiance is lovely and the vibe is enjoyable, but the recent changes in the menu and price hikes are disappointing. The Mexican-American menu is decent, but the quality doesn't justify the costs. Charging $50 for chicken and $55 for salmon feels excessive. While the food was good, it certainly wasn't exceptional, and it doesn't meet the standard one would expect for those prices. You can find similar dishes at other nice places in the Catskills. I also noticed that all the dishes were served barely warm. I've always appreciated Prospect's use of seasonal ingredients in their creative cuisine, along with the variety of pasta options and desserts, but all of that seemed to be missing during our last visit, and we will definitely miss it.
