Balthazar - Toulouse

I stayed in le cour des consuls next door and the concierge recommended balthazar. very good, very good meal and great price/value equation. starter and entree are only €16.50 for lunch. I had the gazpacho (well prepared with mozzarella cheese ball) and. the hunch caesar salate that was perfect. the chicken was moist and juicy.

I had lunch here on Friday 27 February. The dish of the day was a mackerel fillet with a black sesame sauce and marinated vegetables. The delicate cooking wonderfully developped all the subtle aromas of the fresh fish. This is perfectly coherent with the small...scale restaurant Balthazar aims to be.

If you are looking for a fantastic evening in a nice restaurant, not too noisy with fantastic food: this is the place to go!

One chef and one waiter who didn't speak English, but used his phone to translate the menu for us. No fawning or grovelling, but he was helpful. There were only three mains and we tried two of them. Both were wonderful. Come here if it's the food you're interested in.

We started out holiday with a meal at Balthazar - tipped by our son. We had a really good meal - original style, local products, well cooked and very reasonably priced. I would love to go back there.
