Bidrage med feedbackCan 't wait to visit Spain and eat at Los Pescaitos which I was pleased to see has reopened after the Estado de Alarma with Menu del Dia (9€ . Bit puzzled that one reviewer mentioned a basket of bread sticks and bread roll being stale and charged at 1€ .... over the years we 've never been given bread sticks here, nor a basket, and never been charged 1€ for the bread. Bread rolls have always arrived on an ordinary small plate along with cutlery wrapped in a paper napkin. There 's a Pescaitos in Malaga, and a Pescaitos in Nerja, and a Pescaitos in Madrid...
Ate here numerous times and each time they put a basket on the table with rolls and bread sticks which I assumed were complimentary, but we didn't bother with them On our last visit we had Paella and I fancied a roll to mop up the juices, but as it was stale I left most of it. When the bill came I noticed that we had been charged 1 euro for it which I queried and pointed out I had left most of it because it was stale, but they weren't really interested in my complaint so we found somewhere else to eat for the rest of our cstay.
As long as we are within striking distance of this little bar/restaurant Los Pescaitos in Torremolinos during its opening hours, it is the only place in the Costa del Sol where we will eat. We once drove all the way from Granada province and didn 't stop for lunch until we made it here just in time to eat before going to the airport. Many years ago we discovered Los Pescaitos , tempted in by a blackboard outside on the pavement offering a small beer and a tapa for the magnificent sum of 1 euro. Two visits later we graduated to their Menu del Dia and never looked back, or elsewhere. The price has increased a little over the years but the current 8.50 euros is still the very best value around for bread, a drink, a starter, a main course, then dessert or coffee. In summer the dining room is packed with Spanish holidaymakers and throughout the year the regulars come in daily for lunch, or just drinks and tapas, or coffee. Service may sometimes be on the slow side when the restaurant is full in summer because there are only 2 waiters in this friendly family run business. We were disappointed to arrive for lunch and find them closed for Christmas holidays. There is also their pension upstairs, but we have not stayed there.
Wonderful Spanish food in torremolinos up in the old part of town- well away from the tourist traps on the coastal strip. Lovely fresh cooked food at its best. Lovely friendly staff. Very reasonably priced.
Tourists in Spain often visit tourist restaurants because they do not know what and how to order their meals. Moreover, there are many dishes that are unfamiliar. I therefore propose that visit Restaurant pescaitos in Torremolinos. The food is typical Spanish dishes, simple, inexpensive and well prepared. Do not be surprised that the waiters shout a little high for the kitchen. Everything happens in a cozy atmosphere. Maybe you do not know the dishes on the hand written menu, but look at the other tables and order in the order: What you want to drink (included price of menu) starter and main course. Order dessert when you are done with these two dishes.
