My friend and I visited Sushi Couture in the Annex on a Tuesday night. I had tried out all the nearby Japanese restaurants, but had avoided this one due to hearing about higher prices. However, it was worth it as the quality of the sushi here is exceptional. I couldn't find dishes like fish carpaccio in a citrus glaze at other places. The dish was delicately prepared and delicious.
The highlight of the meal was the fresh sashimi, particularly the red tuna belly which tasted incredibly fresh. The octopus and salmon were also delicious. However, indulging in sashimi can add up quickly on the bill. The tempura was also well done, with a nice assortment of vegetables including okra, green beans, cucumbers, sweet potato, and broccoli. While the food was fantastic, the service left something to be desired. It took over 30 minutes for our first dish to arrive without any explanation for the delay, despite it not being a busy night. Overall, the food was worth the price but the slow service was a downside to an otherwise enjoyable dining experience.
In a sea of sushi places in the Annex, a refreshing departure from the subpar sushi joint. Albeit a little bit more pricier, you certainly get more complex flavours and fresh fish variety. Once you come here, you realize how other places in the vicinity pale in comparison.
Really good sushi with imported fresh fishes. I couldn't believe how good this place was. Never tried it and went to so many right beside it. A real gem you won't be disappointed. Also amazing is the streak teriyaki
