This Licensed restaurant is at 2411 Yonge, 2 ½ blocks north of Eglinton on the East side. Restaurant critic extraordinaire Joanne Kates rates it in the top 50 restaurants in Toronto where you spend a little. Pho is a Vietnamese rice-noodle soup, from which the restaurant derives its name. The signature dish is Phở Đặc Biệt (a fabulous savory Pho that’s been tested by the author) with rare and well-done beef and other ingredients in beef broth with noodles. They have a variety of mains with meat, seafood or vegetables in Pho or with rice or vermicelli. Each comes with bean sprouts, seasoned with basil and lime, on the side. And, there are lots of appetizers, extras and desserts if you are inclined.
I tried a curry dish at this restaurant that wasn't pho, but it tasted more like a Thai curry, which I enjoyed. The spring rolls weren't to my liking, and my friend's meal was better when reheated the next day. Overall, it was a decent meal, but nothing remarkable that would warrant going out of your way for it.
I've been here on a few occasions and each time the food is great. I usually order either the beef meatball or the ginger pho and both taste wonderful. I would say that the service is a little lacking. But the price is decent and the servings are large. All in all I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
We found this place while just walking the Yonge and Eglinton area and found the food to be tasty and the service friendly.I don't understand previous viewers criticizing the food and the employees. We found the people who served us to be very friendly and especially understanding when my wife found the Spicy Vegetable Soup to be too hot. The manager simply took it away and returned with a milder version which my wife greatly enjoyed, I'd suggest ordering the mildest version of this dish and then spice it up with the condiments on the table. We definitely plan to visit here for dinner.
