Bidrage med feedbackCame here for their Asialicious promotion, which was a 3 course meal. I got the smoked salmon tapas I'm grateful they gave 4pc instead of 3. Main: spicy creme udon, which was good! Dessert: blueberry creme brulee, which was decent. Drink: Pina colada, was alright the top was kinda weird..tasted like salted citrus cheese cream? My only issue is service was kinda lacking. Waited to be seated even though there was maybe 4 other people dining. Was never served water...even though they had so many jugs on the counter. Waited for our bill because they were all hiding in the corner of the restaurant probably eating lunch (which I understand the need for a break). But just the lack of attentiveness was not worth the experience. Bill came out to $100 for 2 people.
If you call yourself a sake bar, I feel it is imperative that you have more than 4 sakes used for your sake flights. We came here specifically for sake. We wanted to sample lots of options and a place calling itself a ...and sake bar seemed like a very safe bet. Let me say, it is nothing like the izakayas and amazing sake bars downtown. It 's actually a pretty big misnomer to call it a sake bar at all, imo.We were 3 people and order one of each sake flight (there are 3 flights of 3 sake samples, so 9 samples total). At least one offering on each was present on another. So, in total, it was 4 different sakes we tried, instead of 9. Every flight should be completely UNIQUE. It was a huge letdown. Especially when the premium flight was entirely made with sakes from the non-premium flights lol. Make it make sense! Also, they have a bar and offer chūhai, and we asked if it was fresh grapefruit and were told yes, and the photo on the menu is a fresh grapefruit. The drink definitely is not. It was a horrible synthetic syrup. They seemed offended when my friend said she couldn 't drink that. Meanwhile, up the street at Hashi, they have proper chūhai.Service was a bit disinterested but overall tolerable. I just cannot understand the point of a sake bar with such terrible sake flights.Maybe the food is what makes this place so popular. It sure isn 't the drinks.
As a Toronto-native with a Japanese lineage rooted in a 15-year Asia tenure, Mentaiko Cream Udon isn't new to me. A creamy, spicy roe-infused classic I've craved locally. Spotting it here heightened my anticipation. The service? Adequate. Neither too enthusiastic nor inattentive.Diving into the dish, the flavours intrigued, though there were shortfalls. The sauce was more watery than velvety. The poached salmon seemed overextended, resulting in dryness. And the udon? A tad too soft for comfort.Given the restaurant's rave reviews, I wondered if I caught them on an off evening. While MeNami might not immediately re-enter my dining rotation, its charm could call for a second chance, perhaps on a better culinary day.Noodle lovers, a word of caution: perhaps let them refine a touch more before venturing no
My partner and I were excited to come because this place is always busy and we weren’t disappointed. Wow ..wow... wow... this restaurant deserves your visit! We ordered the chicken karaage, tempura udon and the infamous cheese udon.I would suggest to make reservations, because this place IS super busy. We didn’t do this, but were lucky to get patio seating. I think the owner came by and she was so lovely just wanted to write a review because of that and the amazing staff!
I lovee udon im so glad my friends introduced me to this place. By coincidence it was summerlicious so i ordered a 3 course meal for $35. I started with the salmon tataki, and chose the curry udon with shrimp tempura for my main, followed by a blueberry creme brulee. The tataki was so delicious the menu said only 5 piece for dinner but there were 7 on the plate. I was a little bit disappointed with the curry udon, but im not usually a curry fan anyway i just thought id give a try. My friend had ordered the salmon udon and it was delicious, basically a carbonara but with udon. Definitely will go back to order that one next time. And the blueberry creme brulee was amazing too, but very sweet.
