Bidrage med feedbackLocated on 720 College Street in Toronto between Crawford and Montrose, Il Gato Nero is a charming place for an afternoon brunch. The ambience was warm and welcoming. Service was friendly and efficient. Ella was the waitress elegant and charming. The Chiabatta Burger was wonderful. Perfect...cooked, it kept nice together with all the blows, until the last bite. The frits were freshly fried and slightly crisp. The dress for my green salad for me was divine. Dessert one of the best Vanilla Gelato I've ever tried. . . is a food for the goddesses! The Riesling was less sweet than I usually enjoy, but went well with the Burger. All around it was an excellent culinary experience for a cool Sunday afternoon.
Just a few minutes walk past the epicentre of the dams and resellers at College Street in Little Italy. Good pizza, drink selection. Discount cocktails. Not pretentious. Good location on a corner with 2 terraces to choose from. Smaller venue. A great place to go...if you want to chat with friends without clubby music or kids. I've been here a long time and I'm on my way to Little Italy.
We had been at the CN Tower and took the tram up Spadina Ave to College St. We walked from Spadina along College toward the Little Italy area a friend had recommended. The walk was nice and as we walked along we were looking for...a place to go in for Italian food. We finally spotted the Il Gatto Nero right at the corner with a nice patio where you could sit out on a warm summer's eve. We had good and attentive service and the food and Prosecco were very good. People sitting out were just chatting and relaxing and all-in-all it was a nice relaxing time. We then walked back to our hotel near Spadina Station via the nice old neighbourhoods in and around the restaurant. Seemed very safe and was a very pleasant experience
We stopped for morning lattes on a long (day-long) tramp around Toronto West with our dog. We sat on the patio, of course, with the dog tied outside, and had a nice chat with the server. She first said there were no cannoli, so I...was delighted when she suddenly sped back to us on the patio to announce that cannoli were in the process of being made. I might add that the cannoli seemed a bit lemony for my taste, but everything was good and, although I'm not living in Toronto, I look forward to coming again.
Four of us were in our table on Sunday afternoon. Beverage orders were taken immediately and patiently. A son has trouble deciding things. Americano Coffee was welcome this cold winter day. A few fissy drinks and a camel tea rounded off... this order. We chose a veggie pannini, Polo pannini and two pasta dishes. Everybody was great. I recommend this comfortable, informal venue with great food and service for everyone. We'll come back often.
