Bidrage med feedbackI can't comment on the Hungarian food since none of us had any but I definitely would not choose the restaurant for its Thai food. A mango salad with Romaine lettuce? That was a first. I'm pretty sure that the sauce for the Pad Thai, the chicken satays and the lemon grass chicken were all the same. I'm not sure how the combination of Hungarian and Thai food came about but it sure is a strange mixture in a restaurant.
We got the fried rice and oobles of noodles and both were delicious. The place have a nice selection for veggie lovers. Beer was good, service fast and price affordable. A very nice overall experience!
Wen stopped here for Thai food, then realized the name and saw the menu. We can get Thai food anywhere. My wife, Being Hungarian zoomed in on the paprikash and loved it!
Hungary Thai is a Kensington Market classic. We've been coming here for years. Aside from the fabulously interesting people watching available from the patio, the food is excellent. Half of our family favours the Schnitzel and half favours the Pad Thai. Yes, it is a weird combo. Rumour has it Hungary Thai was started by a Hungarian man and his Thai wife. How ever it happened, it really works well. I always have a hard time deciding whether to have Pad Thai or Goulash. My twelve year old son loves the Schnitzel so much that on Saturday, he ate one huge order and then declined dessert and asked me to order him more Schnitzel. I did and he ate it all. The waiter congratulated him on conquering two Schnitzels and offered us a discount on the second one.The patio is excellently located at the intersection of Augusta and Baldwin the weird and wonderful hub of Kensington Market. Shaded seating is available under the huge new umbrellas.
Came to meet some friends and was denied service and lied to several times yesterday evening.- I was told they were closing early at 9 (A lie-) Other party on the patio wasn't being shuffled away- I pointed to the hours of operation sign- Told it was a slow day (on pedestrian Sunday. A lie-) A party walked in and sat inside and given menus. I pointed them out-They were closing the ONLY our side of the patio (a lie-) A new party sat in the closed area- That area became open for reservations ("after hours"...a lie. - Group didn't back up the reservation claim. Just sat wide-eyed, unjustly in the middle of it allMaybe they didn't like my skateboard, maybe they didn't like my laugh. If that were the case, I suggest that you approach with kindness and respect. I would have been happy to talk it out and find a solution. The lack of clarity and push to get us out begs question of whether this was an issue of us being POC. I'd like to hope not, but if it is, I hope you find the reconciliation and healing you need to approach future clients with love and without discrimination. Photo of the other parties on the patio
