Oryza - Torino

After a long train ride, Riso was recommended by our hotel. We could see people were enjoying their food outside. We had an aubergine parmigiana, a caponata, a risotto and an orange and fennel salad. The portions would have fed three people. All dishes full of flavour. Service attentive and in hurried despite arriving at 2pm. Pleasant relaxed atmosphere. Good playlist.

For starters, the service was very slow after the peak for dinner. There was a long wait to have the order taken and another long wait between the starter and the main. When the food finally arrived the risotto my partner ordered was over cooked and my pasta was overly salty- I think I drank a river of water that night. Not good value for money. The good aspect was the warm environment.

The restaurant is situated centrally in Turin and is a short walk away from XVIII Dicembre metro station. We visited early evening on a Tuesday and were able to get an outside table on the terrace. We were given a complimentary glass of sangria whilst browsing the menu. This was very nice. To start, I had Acciughina, which is a bruschetta type dish with anchovies, chopped tomatoes and salsa verde. For main course, I chose Panissa, a risotto from nearby Vercelli. It contained Saluggia beans, salami paste, pig skin, tomato paste and red wine. Dessert was a fruit tiramisu with the biscuits soaked in limoncello rather than Marsalla plus a variety of fruit. All courses were really tasty especially the risotto. In addition we had a most pleasant bottle of Nebbiolo plus a few glasses of grappa post meal. Service was good and the waiter most helpful. Cost was €75 for two without service.

Abbiamo pranzato con me e la mia famiglia, è stata la seconda volta che siamo andati, tutti servizio delizioso e impeccabile. torneremo non appena la stagione lo permette perché abbiamo notato una bella dehors all'aperto...tu tutti

Il trattore di buon cibo riflette il nome che viene preso sotto. si mangia molto bene. il posto è molto bello, l'arredamento è piacevole, caldo e accogliente. il tavolo è ben attrezzato. la tovaglia classica è sostituita dalla carta del menu, una per ogni commensale. Forse sarebbe più bello mettere una tovaglia con un design classico (in combinazione con i tovaglioli). Gli antipasti sono di qualità, anche se forse ad un prezzo troppo alto (riportati alla quantità, poche carni). abbiamo provato risotto, lasagne e tonno. tutti piatti molto buoni e convincenti. Infine chiuso la serata con dolci fatti in casa (di cui consiglio cannolosa cheesecake e caffà ̈ da moka approvato. Consiglio una visita!
