Bidrage med feedbackTickets purchased in advance are date restricted therefore we took the 3 hr drive to go to an outdoor event in rain and cold weather. Even though the weather was unfavorable the shows were good everyone stayed in character, including the visitors who dressed in period. In order to get a map you had to purchase a 5 program which really didn't help us much, except to sit on to keep a dry seat. Turned out we got more assistance from staff. THey directed us to shows and pubs/taverns that had performances. If you go when raining or had been raining there is a lot of mud and standing water. Also additional for rides, and other activities. The food and drinks are expensive but that's a known for these festivities.... 11 funnel cakes, 11 for 8oz mead, 12 sausage on a stick for a few examples. Another good thing because of the rain is that there were less people to get around and no waiting lines for food, drinks and restrooms and we were able to find seats in the taverns and shows. We plan on coming back next year but won't buy tickets too far in advance.
Came with friends for the first time. Noticed BABY HORSES for carousel rides…. Elephants with trunks cut off, horses looked quenched and tired…. STOP USING ANIMALS FOR ENTERTAINMENT
We live in CO and have attended the Ren Faire here for many years, so we decided to try out TX this year. It's an amazing Faire! There are hundreds of shops most with high quality handmade merchandise. The ground themselves are large which makes the crowd manageable and they're really well maintained. They even have staff in the bathrooms to keep the line moving and get people in and out efficiently what a great idea! We all loved the villages and the theming. The shows vary in quality, but are generally very good and there are tons of them to see. For me the food always steals the show at Ren Faires and TX is no exception the areas are themed with food to match so much variety and so much fun. We spent most of 2 days walking around bought a ton of unique gifts, ate 10 different things, and had some really tasty mulled wine. It was worth the trip to this large and well run Faire.
First thing, this is not a restaurant. It is a seasonal Renaissance Festival based on European Medieval time period featuring shops, rides, exhibitions and performances. There is a general admission charge and there are several more inclusive shows and activities if wanted for additional charges. One such option, but by no means the only one, that my group took part in was Odin's Table. A wine tasting and story telling activity put on by Haak Winery. The grounds encompasses 55 acres with hundreds of specialty shops and numerous stages and a huge arena where there is jousting and such. All performers and festival associates are in full period costumes and character all the way from the Royalty to lowly street beggars. As an amusing and enjoyable attraction on its own is that more than half of the attendees don their own personal costumes ranging from science fiction, comics and everything else. Parking is free. There is countless options for food and beverages including alcohol. Some might find the food prices somewhat expensive but the quality and selection is quite high. There is always something going on on the stages at different times so you can catch a show later on if it is too crowded. The grounds are extensive and it is difficult to see everything in one day. It is worth the wait till sunset to see a fire show at the arena which culminates with a fantastic fireworks grand finale. Runs on weekends from October and November.
Terrible! Nothing to do. Just a bunch of overpriced shops! The food was not only overpriced, but also awful. Where is the fun?! We saw some shows too but they were nothing special. All the “rides” and shows were things done elsewhere with better quality. Don’t bother. There were no jugglers, no entertainers interacting with guests.
