Castello Thurnstein - TIROLO

Good food and reasonable prices. Book in advance to have a table with panorama view. Tasty starters as well as pasta and snicel.

A 15th century castle that has remained in the same family since the 17th century. It claims a fantastic location not far away from the famous Schloss Tirol (well worth visiting). One can eat in the garden, on the terrace or inside, in the Stube, all equally nice, but the view is best enjoyed form the outside I had amongst the best white Asparagus with cooked ham, boiled potatoes and the local Bozner Sauce. The Strudel was equally delicious. Very friendly and efficient service and not terribly expensive.

Fortunately for us this was the halfway point on our 11 mile walk from merano. We sat on the terrace, in the sun ,overlooking the vineyards and apple terraces and enjoyed delicious local wine, wonderful cheese and bread and a tomato salad. The waiter was so friendly and helpful. Thank you for a fantastic lunch stop!

Eating is excellent, the service excellent, the environment fascinating.
