Handu Barbecue Restaurant - Thunder Bay

Food is awesome! Decor is not._The owner is the sweetest lady_She might have her hands full as she seems to be the only one on the floor.

Our friends were wonderfully surprised to find a traditional restaurant in Thunder Bay. The servings were huge for a $10 bowl or plate and we thought we had over ordered but we finished everything. As a local this is my favourite restaurant. The menu is extensive and varied. I try to have something different each time I go. The environment is clean, comfortable and has a family feel to it. And there is good parking! Always a bonus.

Came here for supper after a 22km hike at the Sleeping Giant. We knew already we're doing the all you can eat but the kid/server insisted we look at the regular menu in case we liked something from there. It was our first time so I asked for the all you can eat menu but apparently, they serve everything in their all you can eat: lamb, fish, squid, shrimp, beef, chicken, pork, and vegetables. Up to you if you want to eat everything or not. I asked the kid what if i don't fish? He said they're going to take it back. My boyfriend and I didn't appreciate that thought because the food either gets wasted or put back for another customer which is not hygienic. My boyfriend asked for the drinks menu since we saw from outside their window "cold beer 2.99," but the kid can't understand what a drinks menu is. My boyfriend explained it's a list of items with prices and the kid just told my boyfriend that most their drinks ranges from $1-5. Felt sketchy, we just had water. After the kid served the sides and raw meat, he was like "you know how to cook this right? I don't have to stay here and explain how?" I know he didn't mean to be rude but he was obviously lacking customer service or maybe having a bad day?Overall, i loved the short ribs, beef and pork. I am still suspicious where does some foods that we didn't touch go. I hate wasting food. Sad that I didn't have a great experience where I can be proud and recommend it to people travelling to Thunder Bay. Still gave them 3 stars.

Lol ridiculous customer service, comical to be frank. The kid isn't even nice, it was dirty, run down and not very welcoming. So sad considering they're food is amazing

Ill-mannered people with the worst customer skills, they messed up my order, would not explain item on menu, refuse to bring me the right dish. Not sure how clean they are also. Never going back there again.
