Nellie's Fish Chips

2018/10/13<br/ Is it a fish chips shop or is it a Chinese restaurant? Well, it’s both. We were there for dinner on a Saturday, and we were not familiar with the place before we went in. We thought we were going for fish chips, but we decided to have their Chinese food instead. <br/ <br/ We started out with a bowl of Hot and Sour Soup $4.25). Hearty broth, a few chunks of chicken, and one plump shrimp. A little bit hot, a little bit more sour. <br/ <br/ We ordered three main dishes, but the portions were large, and the prices were good. We should have only ordered two dishes for the two of us. First up was the Beef Lo Mein $10.50). Tender beef, lots of noodles, with a few carrots, green peppers and onions to add to the flavour profile. <br/ <br/ Next was the Chicken with Snow Peas dish $9.75). No frills; just the two main ingredients. The snow peas were still nice and crisp. <br/ <br/ Our third dish was Beef with Broccoli $8.95). Again, just the two main ingredients. Cooked just right. <br/ <br/ Service was pleasant and polite.

I haven't tried the food there, but I walked past the restaurant and it smelled good. On my way there I noticed a plethora of tree species such as some large Norway maples (which are invasive), sugar maples, red oaks, pin oaks, healthy looking green ash trees (which are surprising considering the invasive emerald ash borer killing them all), and many more. The trees were all quite large; considering the age of the street I walked down this isn't much of a surprise.

This place is the best for fish and chips. So fresh and perfectly cooked. Excellent prices and the staff is wonderfully friendly.

Truly Perfect Fish Chips. We went to Nellie 's for lunch this week and are utterly delighted with their amazing fish and chips. The fish batter is super crispy and in the perfect proportion to the generous pieces of fish. It takes real skill to get batter just right very few restaurants can do it ... but these folks have it down perfectly! Don 't judge by the 'plaza restaurant ' exterior because inside is nicely appointed and service is genuinely warm and friendly as well as prompt. Prices are very reasonable. We will enjoy having dinners there often! PS Since they are absolute experts at proper deep frying, I would love to see them make a blooming onion appetizer too (because I know they would do it right)... Hmmm, must suggest this to them!

Had dinner of halibut chips.good portions and excellentservice.when we finished this excellent meal ther was no grease on the plate,wow.I would recommend this to everyone.If you have tried the thisile in burlington you will not be disappointed in nellies
