Arai Pastry - Tempe

May 2022: Exquisite Earl Gray Cake light delicious flavor. For $7, they could make this a bigger serving though. Lots of other goodies to try glad I stopped off at a new bakery while in Tempe!

Delicious cake and bread. We love the mango mousse cake and the green tea mousse cake. You can stop by and they always have slices of the more popular desserts and loafs of bread.

As a Japanese person, I’m amazed and shocked.Honestly I heard a lot of mixed opinions about their cakes in town. But I went in for their Milk bread (Shoku pan) to give it a try and wow. Went in around noon to get the freshest ones.It is literally the softest shokupan I’ve ever had. I’ve tried many $10 rich shokupan in Tokyo and all over Japan but Arai Pastry’s Shoku pan is BETTER.Perfect amount of sweetness, milkiness, and richness. It’s so light I finished third of the loaf by myself in one sitting.Both toasted and non-toasted are perfect.Usually milk breads are either better toasted or better not toasted.Only simple ingredients are used so that’s another plus.I love putting butter and maple syrup. It was a trendy thing to do in Japan a while ago.Melon pan was good but not as exciting as the Milk bread. It had a Natsukashii (nostalgic) vibe to it. I liked how crispy and light the cookie was on top.I’ll definitely be back for the milk bread again. Can’t wait to try the other flavors.Cheers to the family!?

This was a great little place. The cream pan was delicious. The green tea cake was ok. Not my fave but it was really well made- just not my taste. Should have chosen a different flavor. You should absolutely get a pan, though.

We love this place! Their Earl Grey Cake is fantastic! Not too sweet and the icing tastes just like Earl Grey tea! You can get a slice or order a cake ahead of time. We have ordered plenty of times from them and it takes a few days for them to make it. I believe this is a family owned place, so definitely support local! I also love their Curry Pan and they are really nice little snacks! Basically it is a breaded bun with curry stuffed inside. We come here often and this is one of our favorite dessert places in Phoenix!
