The Tontine - Telford and Wrekin

Met family today for my cousins birthday lunch, we eat in the dining room. Service was excellent very attentive staff. Our meals were all lovely!! I had the pork dinner and my sister and cousin had risotto all fantastic will definitely recommend.

Opposite the bridge, friendly staff, drinks were nice and reasonably priced, nice little seating area outside to enjoy the sun

Went for Sunday lunch with group of friends because I had heard it had recently been taken over and was decent for food. Overall it was disappointing with the restaurant side room having no atmosphere and the food not very temperature hot and sparing with portions based on what they charge. Wouldn't bother again for Sunday lunch but might try a snack in the bar when passing on our walks out.

During our two-night stay, we had a room with a beautiful view of the historic Iron Bridge. The service was excellent, the food delicious and perfectly portioned, and the room was clean and charming.

We recently visited Ironbridge to explore its industrial history and try out the local restaurants and bars. The best meal we had during our stay was at The Architect, the fine dining restaurant located in the Tontine Hotel, open on Fridays and Saturdays. The restaurant has been recently renovated, along with the lounge and bar areas (we did not stay at the hotel, but perhaps next time). The kitchen is run by a young team, led by a talented 23-year-old chef. The menu offers a choice of 2 courses for £33 or 3 courses for £39. We enjoyed a Cheddar Beignet and Poached Smoked Haddock for starters, and Fillet of Beef and Rack of Lamb for mains. Both dishes were delicious and generously portioned. The friendly waitress also provided warm bread and spoons to enjoy the delicious sauces. We couldn't resist trying the Strawberry Mousse and Dark Chocolate Tart for dessert, and the chef even sent out some extra tasters for us to sample. Overall, the food was top quality and we were very impressed. We briefly spoke with the chef on our way out and provided some feedback, which he graciously accepted as he is always looking to improve the dining experience. While the hotel offers a more traditional menu on other weekdays and a Sunday lunch menu, if you're looking to indulge in a special meal on a Friday or Saturday night, be sure to make a reservation at The Architect!
