Been here twice with my mum for lunch. Staff friendly and good service. Good covid safety measures. Large menu and both meals myself and my mum had where really nice.

Lovely staff and good food served quickly. Very good value for money and large portions. The industry is going through a tough time and recruitment is bordering on feeling like your in the trenches. I run the Hartshead inn up the road and know of...some of the challenges that this place might be facing but I also saw the work that was put in over lockdown and how this place has been decorated. I would bet my bottom dollar the kitchen team are in a phase of having to train new and possibly Inexperienced chefs. Along with supply chain issues and a new menu it can’t be easy. Keep going, keep pushing and I hope your guests keep supporting you. If you need anything I’m only up the road.

We went out for dinner with friends last night and unfortunately, we will not be returning anytime soon. The service was extremely slow (the poor waitstaff received a lot of criticism, which I believe is due to poor management). The food took a long time to come out for all courses, with some main meals even having to be sent back. This was not just our experience, as desserts took so long to arrive that we were close to cancelling them. Overall, we were extremely disappointed. It seems like the restaurant may have been overbooked and had too many customers, possibly due to a shortage of staff. It's a shame because we have lost all confidence in this place. They definitely need better organization and management in both the front of house and kitchen. Despite the challenging night and tables returning meals elsewhere, the waiting staff were still very polite, kind, and helpful.

We used to frequent Hero's on a monthly basis for years, enjoying their excellent fixed-price lunch menu. However, due to lockdown restrictions, we were unable to visit for several months. When Hero's finally reopened, they had transitioned to an a-la-carte menu with higher prices. We understood the financial strain they had been under during the closure and did not mind the price increase. Our first visit in July was satisfactory, but our August lunch was disappointing with a starter served on an old salad base. In September, we tried again, but the quality of the food had declined further. It seems that the change in management and chef during lockdown has resulted in a decrease in the quality we had come to expect from Hero's. Unfortunately, we will now be seeking a new spot for our monthly lunch gatherings.

We went to Hero's for a family meal to celebrate our Aunt's birthday with a group of us. We had to pre-order our meal, which was served efficiently and quickly by the lovely staff. Everyone was pleasant, but unfortunately, the food was disappointing. My steak and chips were inedible as the steak was cold and tough, and the chips tasted reheated and were barely warm. Other dishes like sausage and mash, curries, and lasagne also seemed to have been kept warm for too long. The starters were the only highlight of the meal, being well presented and enjoyable. There was a noticeable difference in quality between the starters and the main dishes. We didn't complain at the time as our Aunt had paid for everything and we didn't want to upset her. Overall, the experience was terrible and we suspect they may struggle to handle large parties.
