I'll opt for different Korean restaurants that I like better next time. I won't be returning and I won't be recommending this place to friends.
The new Korean place in SM Aura is of better value compared to the more pricey ones like Sariwon or Bulgogi Brothers. They have a set menu for 4 people which includes 8 kinds of meat preparations. The meats they serve are flavorful. It has a good assortment for people with varied tastes as well as for kids. For four people it is enough in terms of serving size. They give VERY generous servings of side dishes too! The only setback is that it can be very crowded, many of the grills are no longer working (albeit very newly opened), and you go out smelling like grilled meat. Nonetheless, a happy experience for a hungry bunch!
Its a pleasant enough restaurant that is part of the Sky Cafe level of SM Aura. You can choose between Korean BBQ and then general Korean dishes like japchae and jjigae. Most of the food was good, but our Ribeye meat was 1100PHP and was 50% fat and inedible which was a put off. Also the ventilation was poor so after lunch felt like we needed to have a shower because of stinking like BBQ. For a Korean food fix would be back if I was in the area but wouldn't travel out of my way to eat here.
We had a great Korean grill lunch today at Jin Joo. My brother brought me their cheese Dung Galbi about a week ago and I really felt we just had to dine in.We had their 8 flavors samgyupsal (Honey Garlic, Wine, Herb, Curry which I'm not really a fan of but liked nonetheless, Soybean, Red Pepper, Nutty almost similar to Satay, and my favorite Smokey BBQ). They were served in a long wooden tray almost like a "Sungka block" and in thick long slices almost similar to a pinoy liempo you would get from a Pinoy restaurant. They also serve unlimited side dishes which of course includes kimchi!!!... potatoes, fish cakes, and a lot more... plus fresh, green and crispy lettuce in a strainer. They serve service (lemon) water. Their drinks are quite pricey but offer decent choices.Food is amazing. The place is also just as playful. With pastel colors on their chairs and tables, fun wall art, modern vibe with the grill..exhaust... and the whole tubes in the ceiling. Service is ok, I understand lunch service can get really busy but I appreciate the attentive staff's eagerness to assist everyone. This is a place I would bring my friends to!
We were in the mood to dine in korean restaurants recently. Since we're within BGC's vicinity, we agreed to try Jin Joo's most talked about Cheese Dung Galbi. Cheese Dung Galbi is already good for 2 persons. As cheese lovers, we instantly liked what we ordered. We also ordered moksal but was a bit disappointed that it consists of only 2 slices of pork when what's displayed in the menu are 3 slices. But it's all good, the cheese dung galbi somewhat made up for it, anyway. What we liked more in Jin joo, compared to other korean restaurants that we previously been to, is their banchan (side dish) choices. They didn't seem to scrimp on it. Some restaurants were all just pickled everything and it's a bit disappointing. Jin joo's banchan is composed of different varieties. The service team seemed stiff though. They know what they're doing, no doubt about that, but I personally think that customer experience will be way better if they can manage to use a smile while they're at it. I'm not sure if they were given particular instructions in welcoming customers, but based from my observation, they do not (as in never) open doors for guests that are outside the door. That was the case for us, but I shrugged it off thinking that maybe they're busy with guests but the restaurant wasn't even half full once we were inside. We even have to stand idly and wait for the staff to notice us and lead us to a table. It happened thrice while we're dining. There were even a family standing outside with a baby and stroller in tow, they seem hesitant to go inside it's as if they're first timers. Sadly, no one took the liberty to open the door for them. One staff which was a little over 5 steps away from the door saw them and just made a hand gesture to come in. They came in on their own. I guess that's not just what we're used to--seeing a staff by the door to welcome and/or encourage would be customers to go in.All in all, we can possibly go back for a cheese dung galbi craving and banchan variety with a little expectation about the service.
