Bidrage med feedbackI went to this restaurant with my family and my non-Filipino boyfriend (total of 14 people) because he enjoys Filipino food. We all really enjoyed their kare-kare and ginataang suso! I ordered bottomless iced tea for everyone, but after 2-3 refills from the waiters, they seemed to get tired. Despite that, we had a great overall experience.
I decided to try this restaurant because they offered a variety of Philippine dishes. Some of the dishes were delicious while others were terrible. It was disappointing that they did not refill the tasty ones.
After wandering around the mall feeling hungry, we decided to try out Cabalen's Buffet. We were promptly seated and offered drinks. Most of us chose the bottomless tea, except for my Uncle who opted for just one glass. He was pleasantly surprised to find a wide variety of Filipino dishes that he didn't usually see at buffet restaurants. He even thought the kare-kare here was tastier than the one we had tried at another buffet. We particularly enjoyed the pancit, crispy kangkong, steamed vegetables (ampalaya, okra, etc), and my nieces loved the sisig and lechon. At P298 per person, the price was quite reasonable. Overall, we had a great time and realized how much we missed our local cuisine amidst all the foreign options available.
Craving for FILO food good start to have the most common cuisines; reasonably good selection with labels for each food to know what you are eating. Good presentation of the food and buffet set up. Friendly staff, attentive and good table service every time you need to change plate. Sisig pork on order, so always hot and sizzling really nice! Ate here at lunch time, all food are fresh and kept hot. Very cheap at 298 pesos VAT for each person. Drinks extra. Mostly traditional FILO dishes only. Less selection compared to Kamay Kainan but better quality and presentation over all good buffet.
Whenever Im craving for local food I always visit Cabalen. I love their grilled catfish, deep fried kale (I wish its baked) kare-kare, ginisang ampalaya, inihaw na bangus and many more, the list is endless. They have dessert corner but im not a fan of dessert although I do try sweets time to time. A must visit
