What we ordered Sinampalukang Manok Pork Sisig Canton and Bihon Mix Buko and Mango Shake; Softdrinks in Can Verdict: Wifey has been very keen of anything Sinigang, so the Sinampalukang manok has passed her Sinigang standards;would recommend it for the goers. Sisig on the other hand is just ok, as well as the bihon and Canton mix. What hooked us is the ambiance and the hospitable staff and crew. You would definitely enjoy Tagaytay breeze and it's picturesque view from this side.
Their bulalo's main ingredient is pepper! Lol. We loved the kare kare canton. Hmm Sisig is fine but not too crispy. I wasn't able to take a photo of their Chicken Bbq because it was served to us after we ate all the food. Kaloka diba. The ambience here is beautiful too, except that there's too many bugs. Ugh. (or maybe its just because we went there dinner time, pero kahit na) rating it 3.5 coz some food are good but there are some No No for me.
I didn't expect much coming in as I know it's the typical Filipino resto in the area serving the same menu. Their bulalo and tawilis was good, although I would have expected a little bit more with their serving. The interior and furniture seems old, but they have a huge lawn area at the lower level where the family can hangout and enjoy the view. Service was okay.
This is the second stop of our Tagaytay Food Crawl. My knowledge in the Tagaytay restaurant scene begins and ends with Bag of Beans. Suffice to say that this is the first time I've heard of Taaleña. Similar to the other restaurants in the area, Taaleña serves Filipino Fare. There is not much to say about their interior as they stuck with the Filipino Household Theme. Think of it as the house you see in an 80's movie. Oddly enough, i remember the antagonist'shouse in Inday sa Balitaw. Yeah, i like movies from the 70's and 80's and i sort of remember some of the lines too. I took Film subject way to seriously back in college. Let us talk about thr food, shall we. Good thing they didn't serve a lot of food on our visit. This is a good thing as majority of us are already full. We wouldn'tbwant the food to go to waste. Crispy Tawilis. The quintessential Tagaytay Food. I love dem crispy fried fish! I like the fact that they didn't coat the fish with breading. This is best eaten with the vinegar dip. Sisig. This is a staple on every Filipino restaurant I've visited. I've eaten a lot and it is kinda difficult to identify the flavor subtleties. What makes an awesome sisig? Hmmm... In my humble opinion, if it is flavored well, crispy and less cartilage. Taaleña rated 2/3. Crispy Crablets. Not a fan of crablets but i tried some. Kudos for not staying true to the adjective used. It is crispy alright. Taaleña is another Filipino Restaurant in Tagaytay that offers familiar food. If you want to play safe, this is the best option. And oh, the view is fantastic. I guess this is one of their selling points as well.
