The Subterranean Bar and Grill - Sydney

A pleasant surprise finding this little gem in the basement of The Westin Hotel. Great atmosphere with quick service and attentive staff. Our food was delicious - we tried the lamb spit and baby octopus dishes and weren't disappointed. Meals are affordable and filling.

I joined friends for a drink in the bar - we ordered at the nearby Subterranean restaurant- I had trio of dips and prawn skewers, others had octopus. All were tasty and reasonable price. Others went to nearby GPO pizza. We shared a great selection.

After a big lunch in China Town we wanted a lighter dinner than on offer at our hotel. We went down to the Lower Ground Floor and eventually settled on a meal at the Subterranean Bar and Grill. I had grilled Barramundi while my wife went for the pork ribs. My fish meal was just right in quantity and it was all quality. My wife liked the pork ribs but the serving was too big for her.

Had dinner here before the origin kick-off. The place is hidden in the basement beneath the Westin lobby. Very nice and classy decor and interior. Food and drinks are surprisingly well priced. On the eve of winter it was also warm. I had chicken souvlaki. It came with chips and salad. The food was delicious and well made and only cost a little over AUD$16! The only issue is the portion of chips was small so would be nice to have a little more for hungry locals! Otherwise the food was great. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The place was immaculate. This is one of my favourite spots in the city.

Came here with 6 colleagues for a Friday lunch. Table booked and was there ready and waiting for us with our name on. Service was excellent orders taken quickly and food appeared an amazingly short time after (4-5 mins max). The menu choice was great it was hard to choose however around the table we had moussaka, veggie burger, steak, pork belly and I had lamb souvlaki plate. All the food looked great and my souvlaki skewer with tzaziki, salad, yummiest chips and pita bread (half a lemon included) was fantastic absolutely loved it. Service continued with drinks and water being topped up regularly and the price was extremely reasonable too. This is only my second #5 review from many reviews around the world and I am so looking forward to going back and having the moussaka next time or even the Greek salad looks amazing. Maybe this week....
