Bidrage med feedbackTheir Szechuan style bean jelly is truly one of the best I've had. Their noodles are fresh and perfectly selected and their sauce is very authentic Szechuan. Their stir fry wok dish is equally delicious and authentic. I love how we can customize our stir fry wok dish by selecting the specific meat and vegetables we like. Will definitely come back next time I visit Sydney.
If this restaurant was in my neighborhood, I'd go there every week! Fabulous delicious wok-stir fried food. You order by checking off boxes on a form for items you want in your wok. They start with a base sauce and you indicate how spicy (We picked mild--indicated by number of chilis on menu, zero to 4; one chili was plenty spicy for me!) Then you pick several ingredients from 2 sections: animal (like beef, chicken, quail eggs) or vegetable (like 4 kinds of mushrooms, 4 kinds of tofu, bok choy, cabbage, seaweed, etc). Order a bowl of rice for each person or noodles in your wok. Then dig in with your chopsticks and share. Delicious!!Two of us couldn't finish bowl of rice for each and a wok containing 5 vegetable ingredients--took the rest home for next day's lunch. Walking distance from Darling Harbour.
Disclaimer: You really have to know what you are eating! Bring a friend who understands!AUTHENTIC??? ABSOLUTELY! This place is one of my favorite in Sydney. The Dry Hot Pot as I like to call it is a sichuan native stable food. This is the REAL DEAL! YES, they only do cash (Chinese Restaurant)YES, from your point of view it can be dirty, but the taste of the food is very much authentic!YES, it is just maybe a little pricey, but trust me the taste makes up for it.YES, the service can be **** because half of them can not speak English and the servers are just high school/college students. They do not know better; it is all under the table.NONETHELESS, if you are into spicy REAL Sichuan Stable food, this joint has got it for you!
The seafood bowl ordered looked amazing but we couldn't eat it as it was far, but far too salty. We have asked to replace it however the owner /cook washed it with hot water and return it. Still very salty. We paid $46.00 and left without eating. Never to visit the Master Bowl resturant again.
So I was walking past on one of my frequent trips to Sydney and saw someone eating something awesome and made a note to go back there on my next trip as my wife was coming along. We've traveled extensively throughout Asia and have a taste for authentic 'local style' food, and this place delivers the goods! I can best describe it as a massive serve of stir-fried goodness served in a wok with the flavours of a spicy hotpot in Chongqing. You choose your ingredients and spiciness and they bring you a fantastic dinner that will feed an army. it was about $35, but it would have comfortably fed 4 people (we gave it a pretty good go though!). FYI, we went with noodles, quail eggs, cauliflower, potato and fish, and chose 1 chilli spiciness and the same for chinese pepper (assuming it was sichuan pepper, but they called it chinese pepper). It was plenty spicy and so full of flavour. I would go the 2 chilli if you were having it with steamed rice instead of with noodles throughout, or 3 chilli if you have a deathwish! Although if it gets too spicy, it's right next door to N2 icecream to round out a perfect meal...
