Bidrage med feedbackI like Jacksons on George. I have been there a few times to have a pub meal by myself. I like to do that from time to time. A few staff members from merivale came in all dressed up after their recent Christmas party and were very friendly so I ended up having a drink with them and went to frankies afterwards. It's nice to meet new friendly people and this is a good place for that
Sam: I haven't been on Jacksons on George for many years but few friends from work wanted to go in after a few drinks on the harbour and I thought what the hell. I have to say the place hasn't changed one bit still the oak seedy beer smelling place it has been for the last 20 years. Beers are reasonable though and they have a very forgiving dress code. goodtasteguide.blogspot.com
Dive bar that always had a bad reputation. I stopped going there after one visit and witnessed first handed the kind of clientele it attracted. Plenty of far better options nearby and absolutely no reason to come here again. thernbdiary.com
**Parmas of Sydney edition** A few weeks ago three of our members took a sneaky trip down to Sydney to see Above and Beyond at #ABGT150. What a night it was, but as soon as we got off the plane we knew two things: 1. That Melbourne's better 2. We needed a Sydney parma After a little sightseeing we stumbled across Jacksons on George, an awesome Irish pub with multiple levels. We ordered the parma which was $22 and to our surprise they used the same currency as us Melbournians. After 20 minutes the birds arrived and we got to it. Chicken was fresh and tasty enough, and the crumbing was cooked to crunchy perfection. Cheese and napoli were nothing spectacular but nice enough. Chips were very standard pub chips which was okay, but we do prefer our beer battered chips. Salad was also quite average. While it wasn't quite the Sun and the Moon to us, it was still a fairly standard parma which was okay for $22. 6.5/10
Overall an interesting place. Multiple floors with different genre playing. If you're feeling a little Irish and want a metropolitan setting in Sydney downtown, this is the place. Rude staff though, especially the bouncers, but then again this place definitely sees its fair share of misbehaved nutjobs, especially on the weekend nights. Overall, definitely above average, been here plenty of times.
