Bidrage med feedbackDuring a visit to the restaurant, I was able to try their breakfast option which included a bacon butty and coffee. The bacon butty was simple yet delicious, with thick slices of bacon sandwiched between a soft roll and mayo. It was a nostalgic snack for me, reminding me of my childhood favorites. The coffee, however, was served too hot and I had to wait for it to cool down before I could drink it. After some time, the taste improved and resembled more of a filter coffee rather than an espresso-based one. Perhaps it would be best to enjoy the classic (or modern) Cornish pastries with a hot drink. Overall, West Cornwall Pastry Co. offers a tasty and convenient street food experience that I enjoyed.
A perfect, hot meal on the go! I had the Original pasty, size medium The meat was perfectly seasoned It was piping hot and filled me up.
Oooo something that looks like a calzone, but is definitely not a calzone Methinks I should have one.
Great comfort food. Grade: BMy wife and I, on a recent trip to the UK, had some time to kill in Oxford and took a stroll through town. Just as we realized we were hungry, we saw West Cornwall Pasty Co. My sights were set.The case in front of the store displayed a variety of these traditional southwest English hot pockets. We each kept it simple and went for the traditional steak and potato version. Others variations include lamb, pork, and chicken, as well as several vegetarian options.Served piping hot, the first bite into the golden pastry shell revealed an almost stew-like mix of meat, potato, turnip, and onion. There is no sauce, per se, only the juices of the meat and veg. Nicely seasoned, although a little salty, it was delicious and filling. In addition to their signature dish, they also have side dishes--potato wedges and beans--and alternate choices such as pizza, rolls (sausage, bacon, cheese onion, etc and breakfast items. This chain has stores in nearly cities in England and in Glasgow and Edinburgh in Scotland. Especially on a chilly day, I'd love the chance to stop in for another pasty from these folks.
Fulham Broadway Location. After walking by this little shop in the Fulham Broadway Tube stop.. I wanted to take a photo of it. I asked the gentleman behind the counter if I could... err no mate, we are being videoed by CCTV and the owners wouldn't like it .. well ****. I headed back to the hotel to have a quick nap. Over the next couple of days, I was reminded that I really needed to try one of these bad boys. On the Gloucester road many years ago.. like don't judge I'm a geezer... I used to walk by a bakery which had their wonderful breads and pasty's in the window. I would fog the window, with my nose squished against the glass staring at something I didn't have the pence to buy.I have been jonesing for one of these Hot Pockets so the next day I stopped and picked up an original. I took the little treasure back to the hotel. As soon as I got to my room, I opened the bag and grabbed that sucker out, took a huge bite, and burned the **** out of my lips. It was pipping hot and just wonderful.... a little tear came to my eye, one because I could no longer feel my lip and the other since it flooded memories of me wearing my little school uniform doing the same back in time. By the time I was finished I had flaky pastry crumbs all over me, the bed and the floor... I am not ashamed to say, I picked each one up and let it melt in my mouth.I went back again the next day and on my way to the hotel, purchased another one. Chicken and Mushroom... I thought that they could of packed a little more chicken in the wonderful folds of pastry, and I guess I am more of an original kind of guy.. (my Suzie would probably completely disagree). What a great idea to have one of these in a tube station, it was inexpensive, I think around pounds and a really tasty snack to boot.
