Tio's - Surry Hills

I absolutely adore this restaurant. I have been a regular here for some time now and, in my opinion, it is possibly the best Mexican bar in Sydney. They offer a fantastic variety of Tequilas and their Mojitos are absolutely amazing.

I have not dined at this restaurant, but the mezcal and tequila menu make it worth a visit. The staff are knowledgeable and quick to recommend drinks, but true mezcal enthusiasts will have no trouble selecting something to suit their palate. The Tex Mex decor may be a bit tacky, but it adds to the overall fun atmosphere.

I’ve always like Tio’s. And it’s been around for a rather long time, considering the ephemeral nature of Surry Hills’ market for bars and restaurants. It combines casual and cool. I love the daggy sort of inside-outside bar where the bar area could be… on a beachfront or outside, and so the dark Surry Hills interior could really be outside somewhere, a warm night in a Latin American country. There has always been an interesting range of fun bar staff, mostly hipsters in various hipster dress, happy to explain the current range of mezcal and tequila. There are cheap cocktails. And there is good, interesting mezcal and tequila that I’m not sure you can get elsewhere.

Bar in surry hills that is a crazy mexican vibe, heaps of 'interesting ' decor like bras hanging from the ceiling. Great cocktails and they offer free popcorn while you drink. Good for their RSA. It 's a party atmosphere but not really dancing but it 's a good vibe.

Lovely space with a fantastic atmosphere and array of drinks. The friendly and personable bar man's knowledge of the various tequila and mezcal was so impressive and he got us trying things we ordinarily wouldn't, and we enjoyed all his recommendations. The food options were disappointingly sparse and quite average The corn chips oily and undersalted but the spiced popcorn that comes with the drinks is fantastic. This is a great place to come with a bunch of friends, get in early though as it gets packed quickly.
