State 48 Brewery - Surprise

I recently relocated from North Phoenix to Surprise and have visited this restaurant a couple of times. I really enjoyed their selection of beers and cocktails. The elotes appetizer was delicious, but the chicken wings could have been improved. I liked the cauliflower wings the first time, but the chunks were too big during my second visit. When it comes to entrees, the southwest chicken pasta and pizzas were fantastic. And don't even get me started on the chocolate toffee mousse cake - it was absolutely delicious.

Another hot summer day. Bar closes at 10p. Walked 20 min to get out of the house and get a cold beer. Walked in at 9:20p and was denied service- “sorry, already had last call”. People still eating. People still sitting at the bar. We made clear was just popping in for a quick beer but she wasn’t having it. Walked across the street to the other bar closing at 10p and they were happy to have us. So disappointed with State 48

The pizzas at this restaurant are handmade by skilled artisans and cooked in a wood-fired oven. The staff always has fantastic specials and recommendations. The atmosphere is similar to a brewery that brews their own beer on site. The Prosciutto and fig pizza was unexpectedly delicious! They also have a wide variety of craft beers available on tap.

The food is absolutely horrible. The service is equally as bad. The beer is pretty good. There was sketchy stuff that happened right in front of us between all the waitresses and maybe an employee that wasn't on shift. Maybe the person is a good baker... they looked like good brownies...Food: 1/5

The pizza is amazing. Fairly priced and a wood fire grill. Come on! That's hard to compete with. Definitely the best outside of a couple places in Phoenix. Nice food selection in general. They make some really good beers as well with a ton of variety. If you're a Belgian fan, the Hell Bitc* is top class tripel.Food: 5/5
