Grand Palace Chinese Restaurant

As a traveler from China, I believe this restaurant is only worth 2 stars for its Chinese food. I would give it 3 stars for the taste of the food, but only 1 star for the service.

My husband and I ordered takeout from this restaurant, but when we got home, we discovered that our order was mixed up. We were very disappointed with the experience. The staff seemed to speak very little English and were talking about us in their own language while laughing and staring at us. The noodle dishes were dry and overcooked, and the Mongolian beef did not taste like Mongolian beef at all. The chicken and cashew dish had very little chicken or cashews and was mostly just vegetables. We were extremely disappointed with the quality of the food, especially considering the high prices - with an extra $6 per dish just for dining in. This was the worst Chinese food we have ever had. When we called to complain, the restaurant simply said they were sorry we felt that way. We recommend avoiding this place.

We hadn't been to Grand Palace in a while, but decided to go back due to a Group on deal. Food was absolutely delicious and exceptional value for money due to our voucher, having said that they are still very reasonably priced for lunch, not sure about dinner pricing. I wish the restaurant had have been busier to create better atmosphere, so this is a definite hidden gem.. Great food, toilets could have been cleaner and please replace those horrible green wash basins. BUT food was exceptional. We had, spring rolls, chicken and corn soup, Mongolian lamb, fried rice, chicken and cashews, vegetable with oyster sauce and, sweet and sour pork with a Groupon Deal,. Only disappointment was that staff were watching Laptop with movie instead of paying attention to diners, but hey considering the amount of patrons I guess they were bored. Sad for the restaurant as the food is really good.

Excellent food at a reasonable price .we really enjoyed the quality and presentation. Friendly service

We had a beautiful meal. Loved the soup, entrees and main courses. We had excellent service, in the heart of surfers.
