Maiz Mexican Cantina

Amani is life. He is a pure bundle of joy, light, and fun. The service industry is tough. People are challenging. And yet and still, this energetic and amazing human being provided an unprecedented level of character, service, and joy. I'd return to this restaurant just to sit in his section again. We had a large party and Amani was with us every step of the way. Cannot celebrate him enough.

Best Mexican food I had in a long time. Try and leave room for dessert.

The carnitas tacos have me horrible horrible food poisoning ?The back patio is very pleasant.

Hard to put a finger on what Maiz is. Service is generally really good, food is middling Mexican fare above your run of the mill sit down Mexican chain restaurant but not going to leave you raving about the quality or authenticity. Drinks are ok, too. I guess the best way to describe it is I like going at Happy Hour but I feel like I'm just not getting what I'm paying for outside of Happy Hour. It's OK to good, good HH, so 4 stars instead of 3.

Was not impressed. The rice tasted like a rice in a bag microwaved. The beans came out of a can. I ordered the fajitas, the tortillas that were wraped in tin foil to keep warm, were greasy. At first, i thought it was just moisture, but, it was oily. The atmosphere was nice, but waitresses were in bike shorts with tattoos on legs. (Nothing against tattoos, but not in a food industry). I will not go back....They need some authentic recipes.
