Bidrage med feedbackOur first visit to this restaurant last year was fantastic, so we decided to book the hotel package to enjoy their delicious food every day. However, after staying for more than 3 nights, we noticed that the menu barely changes except for the special of the day. It took a while for the appetizers to be replaced, but they were very tasty. On one occasion, when I asked for a salad, the server mentioned that they only had spinach. As a cook myself, I would have expected the kitchen to be able to accommodate a simple request like a spinach salad. Despite informing the hotel about my food allergies, they did not mention anything about it during our dining experiences. This was surprising compared to other lodges we have visited with similar high ratings, where chefs went above and beyond to accommodate special requests. Although the overall dining experience was still above average, we feel that a restaurant of this caliber should pay more attention to detail and be more flexible. We may return in the future, but for shorter stays, as there are many other wonderful restaurants to explore. We would still recommend this place for a glass of wine.
Excellent service from the staff. All very friendly and courteous. Food was amazing as well. Big portions so bring your appetite!
My wife and I were visiting Egmont and we went for a hike to the Skookumchuk Narrows. We came back and were tired, wet and very hungry. We walked by the Wilderness Lodge and I stopped in to ask if they had a table for...two. It turns out they did so we were happy to be inside, warm and dry. From the very first moment, the manager that greeted us was extremely friendly and we felt very welcomed (even in our soggy state! . The view from the dining room was amazing and we were seated at a table overlooking the ocean. I ordered the appetizer of the day which was squid ink risotto with seared scallops and octopus. OMG! It was one of the most delicious things I have ever eaten. Our server was amazing and I told her at that point that I was likely going to order another one of those appetizers fro desert as it was so good! For our mains, I had the braised short ribs and my wife had a pasta dish with fresh caught local spot prawns. Both were absolutely exceptional! The flavours in the rib dish were amazing and it was paired with the perfect wine. My wife's pasta dish was absolutely exceptional as well. Prawns and pasta were cooked to perfection and flavours were perfectly balanced. You know it is going to be a great meal when you cannot decide what do have as the menu is so amazing! We had a tiramisu cheesecake for desert along with a Grand Marnier and that was just the icing on the cake! I am no stranger to fine dining and this meal was up there with some of the best meals I have had anywhere in the world! We are already planning our trip back to Egmont specifically to go back to this restaurant. If you want a truly special meal in a great atmosphere, I would HIGHLY recommend this place! We stayed at WCWL, where our breakfasts and dinners were included. It was quite generous, as we could order juice, coffee, etc. as part of the meal, with the only additional charge being for alcohol. The dinners and desserts were generally excellent, made with local ingredients. The breakfasts, on the other hand, seemed to be prepared by a cook rather than a chef and were inconsistent from day to day, but still good. Every plate was garnished with their beautiful nasturtiums! The service was friendly and helpful, and the lodge and patios were gorgeous, set in a stunning location. Non-guests are welcome for dinner, so be sure to stop in.
My wife and I got sick after we ate dinner here not sure about food handling.Owners not concerned and inattentive I guess they have never heard of trip advisor.
