The Halal Guys - Sunnyvale

My first visit to this restaurant was great. However, when I returned for a second time this past Saturday at 2pm, my lettuce and tomato were frozen, which made the entire sandwich cold. It seems that the experience here can be hit or miss.

I highly advise against ordering catering from Halal Guys. I will never do so again after a terrible experience. The catering site falsely advertised offering trays with the ability for people to create their own bowls and receive individually packed meals. I ordered catering for 20 people expecting to have meats, rice, and toppings scooped as desired, but instead each person received a separate bowl with the same contents. This caused issues for those with dietary restrictions or allergies, as many couldn't eat their meals. It was a disappointing and embarrassing experience, resulting in half of the food being thrown away. This was the worst catering experience I've ever had.

I arrived at the restaurant an hour before it closed last night. The food was decent, but the cheesecake they served me was expired by 3 to 4 days and tasted absolutely disgusting. I could maybe overlook one day past expiration, but three days is unacceptable.

I'm very fortunate that we have this Halal Guys close to us. My fiance and I always come to this location late in the evening around 8 or 9pm and they always have the best quality ingredients. The rice is always cooked perfect, the tomatoes and lettuce taste fresh, and the chicken is super tender and delicious. I've had Halal Guys from another location in South San Jose and it was terrible compared to this one. The chicken was dry, the rice wasn't fully cooked, and the veggies were a bit more wilted. I definitely will not take for granted what we have here.
