Bonchon Chicken Sunnyvale, Ca

I had a tough experience at this Bonchon location due to a combination of chicken that didn't taste right and a bathroom that was falling apart with graffiti on the walls, a broken toilet, and a broken sink handle. I have had good experiences at other Bonchon locations, so I assume something must be off behind the scenes at this particular restaurant. *visited June 2, 2023.

This restaurant used to be good, but now the wings are dry and they overcharge. I recently ordered a new rice bowl to go and had to call them because the portion was so small. The staff didn't even know it was a menu item and I had to argue with them about my order. Despite ordering for pickup and arriving on time, I had to wait an additional 10 minutes because they forgot about my order. Customer service is seriously lacking. I will see how they respond to my complaint about the chicken bowl. I recommend ordering from VON'S down the street for a better overall experience, even though I don't like their marinade as much.

The restaurant shouldn't label itself as serving Korean fried chicken. It's more of a fried chicken spot with a few Korean dishes that don't resemble traditional flavors. There was a noticeable smell from the chicken, likely due to improper preparation. I noticed they didn't offer a plain, sauce-free option, which may be to mask the odor. The breading was crunchy and decent, but overall, the food fell short. I'm unsure of how they received high ratings, as I doubt any authentic Koreans would dine here.

I absolutely adore the garlic sauce chicken wings at this restaurant. The drumsticks are too large! The service is excellent and the skin remains crispy even after an hour.
