Bidrage med feedbackSukkur Barrage is used to control water flow in the River Indus for the purposes of irrigation and flood control. This barrage which is the backbone of the economy of the entire country enables water to flow through what was originally a network of seven canals 6,166 miles (9,923 km) long, feeding the largest irrigation system in the world, with more than 7.63 million acres of irrigated land which forms approximately 25% of total canal irrigated area of the country. Lloyd Barrage museum is not really a tourist spot because except photo gallery nothing is worthy to see. There are three rooms of Lloyd Barrage museum, one contain models of old machines, second room contain models of Barrage and third room contain photos which were taken during the construction period. I was shocked to know that for entrance in museum you must have someone from Irrigation department sindh which is very weird. Just for the getting to know the history of the barrage a bit, the place was ok. It has a small picture gallery showing some of the construction phases of barrage and adjacent library is also which was closed at the time we visited. The other room has few models and replicas of barrage and samples of sand and river bed. The place could do better if it had a tour guide.
