Bidrage med feedbackWe enjoyed our meal seated outside, basking in the sunshine and relishing a peaceful atmosphere. The food was wonderful; I had the handmade pasta, which was absolutely exceptional. My husband ordered the shrimp and grits, which he also loved, though I would have preferred slightly larger portions of the grits since they were so delicious! Each dish on the menu appeared thoughtfully curated and distinctive, with everything sounding appealing. I started with a specialty cocktail—a delightful Aperol spritz with peach, known as the “Ritzy Spritzy,” which was even better with a slice of peach. Our server was both friendly and attentive, contributing to a perfect mid-week dining experience. This restaurant continues to be one of our favorites in the area.
I absolutely love Reid’s! The luxurious interior design is stunning, and the menu never fails to impress.
While the waiter was describing the specials, I chose one and mentioned that my wife is a vegetarian, so there was no need to go into the meat dishes. However, he proceeded to do so anyway, and she ultimately selected a vegetable pasta from the menu. To our disappointment, he brought her a pasta dish topped with two pieces of meat! They then remade the vegetarian dish, which she enjoyed after a wait of 10-15 minutes. Since it was my birthday, I was quite upset about the experience. Additionally, my grouper filet was smaller than that of another diner at our table, and the side dishes were rather forgettable.
I recommend that Reid’s removes “family friendly” and “kids menu” from their listing. I’ve eaten at Reid’s many times and it’s one of my parents favorites when they are in town visiting us. Tonight we had a reservation for 7 which included my almost 2 year old daughter. Since we’ve visited with her before and I told the hostess in advance to be expecting her, I didn’t imagine this would be an issue. Our reservation was at 5:30. Our daughter was being very well behaved but got antsy at the table (as toddlers do) and so I walked with her around the restaurant from the front to side door. Some older woman who obviously doesn’t have much experience with children decided this was far too much for her a child! Walking past her! During dinner! She complained to the manager and the manager came and told me I was not allowed to walk around with my daughter any longer. This isn’t the way a manager “makes everyone happy” she was not being loud and causing no other disturbance besides walking past a table. I believe you nicely tell that woman that we have every right to be purchasing an expensive meal as she does. And if that’s not the case and you do not want children at your establishment, make that clear. It’s just rude and makes a nice family meal (that is very expensive FYI) into a terrible one. Do better. I’ll also mention that I asked if I could add protein to a kids portion of pasta and the waiter gave me two options a $65 steak or $25 chicken. I hope any parent here is laughing along with me. Kid friendliness: It is anything but kid friendly
What a great place to have a special dining experience. I love the unpretentious atmosphere… upbeat vibe and classy. Attentive service. Great old fashion. But the food is the headliner here. Started with lobster ravioli served in a light broth which was delicious. Oysters were next and outstanding. My wife had the lasagna special which had a unique crispy sear to it. Fantastic. And my scallops and risotto might have been one of the best I’ve had. Highly recco ?
