Bidrage med feedbackI really enjoyed dining at Inthuthu, despite the fact that they don't fully embrace the low and slow style of American barbecue. The fusion between this style and their previous iteration as Hippo Creek worked well for me. The black angus and steak were delicious, and my dad enjoyed the pulled pork. Although I was impressed with the food, some of the other participants weren't as enthusiastic, but taste is subjective. We ate a lot and had plenty of drinks. I tried South African beer for the first time and thought it paired well with our meal. The service at Inthuthu was excellent from start to finish, and everyone, including the chef, was accommodating when we nerded out about barbecue techniques. My only complaint was that the ribs seemed like they hadn't been cooked in the Yoder smoker, which was disappointing. It's challenging to replicate the authentic American barbecue process on a restaurant scale without proper equipment. I would recommend Inthuthu to others. I had a fantastic evening and believe that those who go with an open mind and without high expectations will be impressed by the food. There are a few areas where Inthuthu could improve to elevate their dining experience from good to great.
I used to frequent this steakhouse for years, but I haven't been back since it changed its name from Hippo Creek, and what a disappointment it was. It is nothing like it used to be, the quality is very poor. I had a feeling something was off when I opened the menu and found the first few pages were dedicated to the chefs writing essays about how they prepare their steaks in a certain way, which seemed unnecessary and strange. The food was terrible, the steaks lacked flavor (although the peri peri sauce was good). When my mother ordered fish, we were told they had run out. It was a Friday night and they were already out of a main item on the menu? The staff all wore different clothes, making it confusing to know who worked there. They seemed disorganized and lacked proper standards. The manager was constantly present, reminding me of Basil Fawlty, and was sometimes rude when asking for things. I had to ask multiple times for a glass for my beer before I finally got up and got it myself. Unfortunately, since the name and ownership change, this place has taken a nosedive. It's no longer the fantastic place Hippo Creek used to be. I suggest avoiding it. It is also quite expensive, and I was expecting much more for the price.
A table reserved for Friday night. place them quickly filled while we sat, but was still easy to have a good conversation. service of the word going was great by any employee, friendly and efficient. we had the black bell to start, very nice, then the nets came. all our parties steaks were tasty, although a member complained about the overwhelmingly tasty that killed the taste. the chips were just terrible, fried, until I tried to put my forks in them, flew them over the table. the teenagers with us thought they were perfect! as greedy I had both the ribs and the pulled pork sandwich/weapon. Rins were terrible. dry, tasteless and glued to the bone. pulled gay but was just delicious, loved it. good service, nice restaurant, but meet and miss eating.
The restaurant has a wonderful atmosphere and the service is satisfactory. The steaks were cooked perfectly. The flavors were a bit overwhelming for some in our group, but for others it was a nice balance.
Family of we were all very happy with our meals and the service. the biltong bread was delicious, loved the cheesy biltong mains were all cooked perfectly, even our youngest who is a very fussy eater was happy with his meal! this is...rare! steaks were cooked perfectly, chicken portion was huge, everything was great. And then the desserts! wow. We will be back!
