Bidrage med feedbackI guess you'd call me a doctor. I came to Germany to have carried out the operation of world-famous Dr. Bertagnoli near bow. Dr. Bertagnoli has arranged for post offices in Straubing at Hotel Theresientor. So I was at Theresientor Hotel for about two weeks. A friend who came to see me through the operation and I made daily treks to try nearby restaurants. La Piccola was so wonderful that we eat there three times. At first there is a printed menu, but there is also a daily special menu written on a small chalkboard that will bring you to your table when you come first. I usually went with the specials. Our waiter was always Mauro because he spoke good English and he was always happy to discuss all menu items or specialties and make recommendations. The rest or the staff was also attentive. The service is equipped with every 5-star restaurant in the USA. The food was usually excellent, but an article in the three meals was one of it. It was a lamb frame and it was a bit salty. Mauro sent it back to the kitchen and it was immediately dissolved with less salt. I am sure if I had asked to order something else, but they would have liked to replace the article. The ambience here is from an elegant but also family-run restaurant that sets high standards for the quality of its meals and the owner and chef Andrea likes to experiment. But he wants his guests to enjoy what he cooks. So he would make it his personal mission to repair or replace everything that the guests do not meet or exceed expectations. At the end of almost every meal Andrea would come to our table to make sure we like everything. One evening his wife, who was also in the restaurant, came to us and Mauro for a last toast, as it was our last night before our departure.
Worst lasagna ever. Maybe it was a bad night. Salad was soup (which is common in Bavaria), and nothing green about it. Terrible. Served with locals, they were all right with their meals. I couldn't touch mine. Try the Greek square next door.
