Bidrage med feedbackMy friends and I were most excited to eat at this restaurant. It has great reviews I have personally eaten here with family before. This time around the experience was terrible. The dining room was dark and dingy and the food was less than mediocre. Wehad been looking forward to eating the scallops when they arrived to the table they smelled like ammonia?anyone who knowsanything about seafood knows that the ammonia stench means spoiled seafood. Though this is a well established place, servingspoiled seafood for $44 is unacceptable. Had we not used our senses to tell, we could have suffered from food poisoning. Onecould even tell by the color, that something was off, along with the messy plating. The manager was more than understanding comped our meals, however, we still ended paying almost $200 for one bottle of Prosecco (retailed at $15) and 3 just okayentrees? I?m truly disappointed that a restaurant of such high standards prices, could bypass the quality of food. We?reannual Stowe visitors, and we will be sure not to return here. It?s
Based on service only since our food never arrived. Had to find where they stored the pitchers of water because the waitress never filled ours and never did during the hour and half we waited for the food to arrive. Started to get curious if theflowers were edible. Also it was warm inside. After being told food was coming soon 3x and then being presented with anothertables plates by mistake we called it quits at an hour and forty five minutes but got excellent food and service at a bistronear by. 1 star for being located near another more capable restaurant and comping a martini.
I was between 2 and 3 stars but then I remembered how expensive some menu items were. I love the location of the Von Trapp lodge, and I really wanted to love this restaurant. I had high hopes for the food quality and overall experience. Firstly, theappetizers we ordered were good (though about the bare minimum acceptable for the price). The cheese board was delicious, aswas the quinoa salad. Unfortunately, the main course came as a disappointment. The schnitzel was good for the first two bites, but then became a chore to eat as it really lacked any flavor. The sweet potato gnocchi was tough and required a concerningamount of effort to stick my fork through. It also lacked any brightness in its flavor, and generally tasted dull anduninspired. The chicken was alright, not too bad. The scallops were good, though that should be absolutely the bare minimumfor a $40 dish. The waitress was polite, but didn?t seem entirely with it when it came to bringing the right utensils. Shefirst didnt bring saucers with the coffee, then forgot the cream and sugar, which she later brought without anything to stir thecoffee. You would think for this price of restaurant they could bring it all together; every cheap roadside diner I have everbeen to did a better job with service. It was not at all busy when we were there, it looked like just one other group wasdining inside. I hope this place can get their act together, but given the trend of reviews they arent going in the rightdirection. The location and history has so much potential to be a great restaurant, but the quality of food and service offeredfor the price has me really thinking the Von Trapp family dining room is content with being a tourist trap.
Fancy place with according prices. Had a ribeye steak but really average quality wise. Their beer is good while the desert was less than average.
This is a tourist trap. There is nothing pretty in the dining area. Its just a simple hotel, it looks like an old Sheraton. The beerhall is so much better, it has a more interesting vibe, great beer and good food, but really?the whole place could use arethink.
