The Highland Lounge - Stirling

I stopped by this restaurant hoping their kitchen was still open after a long day of traveling. The staff was extremely kind and understanding, providing us with a takeaway box while we ordered drinks. The bar staff even took care of our dog, giving treats and ensuring his comfort. The food arrived promptly and was delicious. Overall, it was a fantastic quick stop at a cozy restaurant with friendly and helpful staff. I will definitely be booking a longer stay in the future.

The rooms are fantastic, but what truly sets this place apart are the amenities, communal areas, pub/restaurant, and the hotel staff. After hiking the WHW, we arrived just past 3pm with wet shoes, but they provide a drying room for guests to use. By morning, our shoes were dry! Grabbing a pint at the pub and relaxing by the cozy wood stove in the parlor was a great way to unwind. There is also a peaceful Library with books and seating. Dinner at the restaurant was tasty and surprisingly affordable. We enjoyed chatting with the server and bartender about the local area. Breakfast in the Conservatory was delightful too. I wish there were Best Western hotels in the US as nice as this one!

The hotel made a lovely first impression, but we arrived without a booking and found the price to be very high. Despite this, we decided to give it a try. However, we were disappointed with the small and outdated room we were given. The thermostat did not work, even though it was supposed to. We dined in the restaurant and enjoyed the food, but there was a strange smell in the bar and restaurant area that was off-putting. Breakfast the next day was amazing in a different room. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Overall, I have mixed feelings about this place. I expected more for £222 a night.

Helpful pleasant staff. Lots of interesting pictures in a wide variety of themes very nicely framed and displayed. Delicious food attractively presented. No garden. On main through route, so heavy traffic passing.

Staff are kind and attentive. Linens are luxurious. Nice touches like biscuits and popcorn provided. Shower water pressure and temp are spot on. Large room. Food tasty and reasonably priced. Drying room and lift both great for hikers. I only wish it were closer to the WHW as it is a bit of a trek—still worthwhile. I think the price is a bit on the high side but all things considered I would stay here again.
